If You Don't Have a Disc Doctor

FK #425 will also do it with a MF towel.

I think that might work for cleaning only dirty discs (usually the first thing someone should try before polishing it), but for a heavily scratched up disc, I don't see how FK #425 could fix it since it has no abrasives to my understanding

I used a similar process to get the scratches out of my black video ipod... anyone who has one knows how easily they scratch (must be the color HAHA) Anyhoo... I taped off the clickwheel area as it would just be a haven for product to get into and it worked like a charm. Its amazing all the things that can be detailed.

I know this is ghetto, but I know how easily they scratch too so I just leave the original plastic film that comes with the iPod. It protects both the screen, the iPod, and the click-wheel. The only thing it doesn't protect is the mirror finish on the back, but I might have to try to polish that now with the Makita lol

They actually sell nicer clear liminates for them if your interested... Best Buy has them as a matter of fact and its only a couple of bucks for a pack with a few in it. I just never bothered to take good care of mine b/c it spends 99% of its life in the glovebox of my ride connected to my alpine touchscreen so looking pretty isn't a concern... I moreso did it just b/c I was bored and figured it was worth a shot. As for the back... even if you can get it scratch free the damn fingerprints are never ending so its almost like you should spray paint it and be done :har:

I'm too cheap to even spend a few bucks for those clear laminates LOL. Plus I figured I'd have to go through the trouble of getting the surface completely clean and then put it on properly without any air bubbles. I'm one cheap and lazy ******* hahaha.

And yes, you're right about the fingerprints on the back. I haven't bothered making it look nice because I know it's impossible to keep it looking that way. As long as it still looks good when I sell it a few years down the line or trade it in, then that works for me. When I returned my iPod Photo back to Costco, they were a bit confused because it looked almost new.

I don't claim to understand it nor do I care why but I can tell you first hand that it has worked for me on more than one occasion.
