If I use Zaino (Z2/Z6), do I need to wax?

My understanding is that Zaino is a car polish product. (I am referring to Z2)...



Zaino purists will argue that Z2/Z6 is all the paint protection your car needs.



I am not convinced that is true.



What I like about Z2/Z6 is that it is incredibly shiney and very long-lasting.



Do I need wax over Z2 to protect my sealed and polished surface? If so, why?



To my knowledge, Zaino doesn't make a wax product.

You don't need to wax over Zaino. It will provide maximum protection for your finish all by itself.



While the Zaino website refers to it as a "polish", it is really better described as a "polymer sealant" or "wax." Most people think of polishes as things that clean the paint with chemicals and/or abrasives. A polish can bring a neglected finish back to life.



Sealants and waxes, on the other hand, don't clean the finish; they only protect it.



Zaino doesn't make a true polish, although I hear that one is in the works. Z2/Z3/Z5 are sealants. If your finish is already in top shape, you should use them to keep it looking great. If, however, it has swirls or oxidation, you should go over it with an actual polish first- like 3M SMR or Meg's DACP- before applying Zaino.
