You either have to subscribe online or pick up a copy of Car and Driver to read the actual article but the gist of it is that you use a rotary to heat the clear coat to soften it to a viscous liquid that fills in swirls and defects. Step 5 is pretty funny too, applying a coat of wax will help mask swirl marks. Suggesting those new to detailing start off with a rotary is pretty hilarious as well. :lol
