I want to clay in between Meg's 3 step

Hello all.

I just bought Meg's 3 step deep crystal wash and I wanted to clay my car as well.

When should I do this? I was thinking between step 1 and 2 but I wanted to know where was the most appropriate.

Also, it says on the label that I should wash the car before applying step 1, what product would you guys recommend I use to do this?

I've tried searching but not much luck for the correct process.

This is what is in my head right now:

1. Wash car (with something?)

2. Step 1

3. Clay

4. Step 2

5. Step 3

Thanks for the great help I always receive on this forum!

You can just buy an OTC car wash. Plenty of people like the NXT shampoo and the Meg's Gold Class. I would *not* buy some cheapie stuff like the TW "Zip" car wash or Westley's.

I'd clay before using the Step#1. That way the clay will pull out a lot of contamination and the Step#1 will be more likely to clean (what's left) effectively. Plus, the Step#1 will clean off any clay residue that you might miss.

While you're shopping for shampoo, you might pick up some Meg's Scratch-X to use on any nasty scratches/marring you might discover. Handy to have some kind of abrasive like that around.

If it was me, I would clay first - before any of the Megs steps.

This is a fairly debatable point so there will be other points put across. Personally I would:

wash - don't bother drying

clay (make sure you use plenty QD / Lube)

wash again and dry properly

step 1

step 2

step 3

claying first will help you with the step1 as there will be less 'bits' on the paint surface to clog up the applicator - thereby making step 1 easier to do and with better results.

as for wash, any decent car wash will do - since you have meguiars products, you could stay with them and go for the soft wash gel or gold class washes - both decent. Any good quality OTC wash will be fine.

good luck
