I think I just lost my mind!

So I went to Home Depot this weekend to buy a tool box to carry my PC. I bought a good sized hand held Red Husky box for $20. Well while I was loading everything in it I started thinking, man this thing would be really bitchin w/ some old school pinstripping. Then I thought, well this thing would be bitchin painted and stripped!. Well then I remembered this 51 ford that a friends shop was painting and started thinking, man I should get this painted. AFter spending 30 minutes trying to drill out a rivet and watching my makita cordless literally smoke I gave up and decide I'll let them deal with it. Well the estimate he gave me is $150 (most will be labor, it'll tkae them an good hour and half to drill out the rivets and prep an prime it. Then I'll spend another 50-80 getting it stripped. So now I'm going to have a $20 tool box that's has 200+$ worth of mods :rofl:





I think I've lost it, it'll be the coolest box around though :D



here is a picture of the color click me There is a lot of flake in it that you can't really see. I plan on doing silver and green metallic stripping (anyone got a good striper in So Cal?)





and yep, some of you will probably recognize the shop name, they do a lot of painting for Chip Foose and the Overhaulin' show. :rofl:
 
Great Scott, another thing your going to be anal about detailing.....I need to come up with 2oz bottles of supplies now ???!!!

:D hey, atleast they'll lock me up and I'll have the coolest tool box in the ward :D

And I thought I was ‘over the top’ by using a PC Storage case ($30) my only mod is a GB sticky

btw, anyone had success in trying to take off the black front cover on the PC? I'm afraid to crack it, the back one came off easily

its almost as bad as when I striped my entire car and painted EVERYthing to match bodystyle... I wanted to make sure people couldnt find any factory paint.. Yea people called me crazy for painting the floor which no one would ever see because of carpet and inside door panels..but it was still cool to do.

I'm a pinstriping nut, if my girl would let me stripe every door in the house I would. I've actually got a design for some pinstriping I'm tatooing on my back :rofl:

Cool, I think Bob Iverson will do the striping on the box, don't know if you know the name, but he's been around for 30 so years.
 
You think paint is tough enough for a toolbox? Spending all that money, I'd be afraid of chipping it or something. Would powdercoating be a more durable choice?

They'll do a lot of coats (both base and clear). I'm not to worried. Plus I mean, it's not like this thing will be sitting in the bed of a truck or trunk of a car getting beat and thrown around. It'll sit in my passenger seat wrapped in a blanket w/ a seat belt on it :D





Our cars see a lot more abuse then this thing will even come close to.
