I spoke too soon (Teg Fixed)

Well, after my spectacle with my Integra being smashed by vandals:

I mentioned I wasn't mad since I was covered by insurance (no deduc) and I made it home alright, but yes...I spoke too soon.

I scheduled the appointment for today. They gave me a window of 9am - 12pm. The installer showed up at 12:15 pm, so my morning was already shot.

He began taking my taping and bagging off the remains of the window, then comes up and knocks on the door. I went down with him and he told me "You didn't tell me it was a GS-R". Well, my insurance set it all up and thats how the vehicle is listed on my insurance card. Anyways, he told me how the GS-R is the only 3rd generation Integra without a 3rd brake light in the rear glass. The LS, RS, GS, SE, and Type R all have the brake lights in the glass (mine came with an OEM lit spoiler). Therefore, the glass company doesn't even MAKE IT! He tells me to call Acura and they tell me they can have the GSR glass tomorrow, but they don't deal with insurance. I call the installer's boss and he tells me if I want it done that way, he'd have to wait 5-7 business days for a check from corporate headquarters or I could pay out of my pocket and wait for re-imbursement. So, F-that.

I more or less settled with the piece he had. It was flawless, just has 2 holes for a 3rd brake light. So either, I will get a 3rd brake light and have it sit unhooked up since it's not wired for it, or I will plug the holes like I did with the wiper.

So all in all, my day is pretty much shot and the car isn't as it was before. So once again, Fluck all you vandals out there :angry

At least its fixed, get it tinted and you'll never notice. I know how you feel though stuff like that bugs the hell out of me too.

I had my drivers side window broken in Sep and my PAsport 8500 radar taken. I feel your pain. My car was not the same after that, and it's only been settled about 6 weeks ago.

1st it was much added windnoise from the OEM Toyota window.

Then we replaced the weatherstriping, nothing . There's glass in my door, so I attempt to take it appart and break the door lock trim piece (comes in later) I take it back, the dealer aligns the door, wrong, and it sticks out about 1/4 inch. Next the insurance and dealer tell me it was from a previous accident/ding that the previous owner that caused the windnoise and they won't fix it, so I tell the dealer to realign the door. They attempt to (but don't) and break my antenna in the meantime. So then I go back and they replace the antenna, this time scratching my paint with the new antenna and then my door locks start shorting. Dealer body shop claims it's my door lock trim. So I buy a new one, same thing. Then I bring it back in, and after 10 days or so, they find a short in the wire loom in the door. THey tell he it wasn't them and i owen them $400. I tell them to stick it, after misaligning my door and breaking my antenna (which at this time they claim was a replaced as a "courtesy" and not cuz they admit fault) and scratching my paint to boot. We call the insurance and they ended up covering the door, but that was after many phone calls and much crap.

In the end, I still have a door that sticks out when shut and that has tons of wind noise. . .

I feel your pain Sean . .. I do. . .

To quote Mr. Garrison...

"You go to he**!! You go to he** and you die"!!!!!! :angry

Insurance companies are sometimes just as bad as vandals.

That's probably the way I would have gone. Covered the hole back up, got the correct glass the next day, and waited for the check from the insurance company. They're usually pretty quick about getting money out to ya.

I'd much rather be out a few hundred bucks for a week than have to deal with doing my own repair later :nixweiss
