I quit smoking.

I went cold turkey and use the patch on some days. Its funny. Some days I feel fine. Others I wake up and need something so I throw on a patch. I tried the gum and it was gross.

Hang in there Dalton!
The first 8 days were the worst for me. It does get easier as time passes.
If you are of a competitive nature, (I am), one thing that helped me psychologically was to treat each craving for a cigarette as a personal challenge. Kinda corny, but it worked for me.

good decision! i hate being around people that smoke, it feels like your choking. now if only i could get my dad to stop drinking....

Well here is the update. Its been a month and no smokes. Gained 10 lbs then lost 5 in the past coupl eof weeks so net I am up 5 lbs. Not bad since I lost 70 lbs since Jan 2004.

Getting easier but when I am around it as I was this weekend it is still hard. Staying strong though for the kids!!!

Wow. Thank you for the support guys. My wife is very happy with me (for a change).

BTW Steve please never ever mention doughnuts to me again. I am having convulsions thinking about them now!!!!

Thanks all. I will keep you all posted

Its funny. I was detailing my car yesterday and it was weird not to take a few smoke breaks but it cut down my total detailing time.

ugh I need to go get the gum...I quit two days ago and I am not a fun person to be around right now...

I used the patch for 3 weeks and think it was a big factor in my success. You dont even know it is there. Just stick with it. When you get a craving do something to keep you pre-occupied for 5 minutes and it should go away. You really have to focus and work through the cravings.

Think about someone you love and how you want to be around them for as long as you can and it will get you throught the cravings quickly!!

Hang in there it is well worth it. Trust me.
