Just thought I would let you all know. Its been 2 1/2 weeks. Smoked for 15 years. Its really tough but I decided I want to go to my son and daughter's weddings so I quit.

Congrats to you then. That's a huge accomplishment. I wish I could quit some of my bad habits, but I guess I am just too lazy. Anyways...Good job Dalton!

Whatever the reason you decided to stop smoking for .. GREAT MOVE!!

I stopped smoking 6 years ago and have never looked back. I am richer for it, healthier, feel better and smell sooo much better. In addition, my house furnishings look better and I redecorate less often! I'm also kinda intersted in living beyond 50 years! It's just the way to go.

Good luck and hang in there, you have my very best wishes for your success!

Keep it up! :bigups

I smoked 2-3 packs a day for about 8 years. I also had a habit of smoking unfiltered "illegal" cigarettes (aka marijuana).

I am so happy that I kicked both habits and have been smoke free for 7 years now!

It does get easier with time!

Nicotine gum was a great help for me. I used the gum for about a month, using less and less each day.

There used to be a day when I would not be able to function without my smokes. Now it is like I have never smoked before! Believe in Him or not, God is good! :bigups

Thank you for the encouragement guys. One great side effect is that my car smells better and I dont have a tone of white "dust" (ashes) all over my black interior!!

I will say it is very hard though.

Do try the Nicorette gum that Dwayne mentioned, it works really well and will stop those bad cravings dead in their tracks (unlike the patches, which did not do much for me). I started on the 4 mg gum and just used it when the carvings came on, it really helped break the habit.

Again, good luck ...... from an ex smoker who wakes up in the morning feeling really good, not coughing, wheezing and reaching for another cigarette.

I also smoked 3 pack's a day, and smoked for 20 yrs. I also smoked the other for about 20 yrs. I quit smoking cigs about 8 years ago, pot about 12 and have never felt better. Good luck to you and hang in there. I quit several times. Sometimes for as much as a year and started back, but quit again, and again. I feel better now, you will too.

Ed, that is an awesome feat, and I am proud of you and the others who have taken a stand on it!

Now you can dedicate that money towards your detailing habits :lmfao

First of all, congrats to Dalton. I quit smoking cigs almost three years ago. I still have not quit smoking the non-filtered kind. Those actually seem to help me when I detail. Dont tell anybody though. HA HA

Congrats to you my friend :bigups You took a huge step in the right direction , I wish you continued suggest in beating the addiction. You do know now we're gonna have to keep you on the straight an narrow ;) Best of luck my friend .

Let me add another congratulations! That is awesome!!!! :bow

I used the patch myself and finally quit New Year's Day of 2000 after 16 years of smoking.

As Nick pointed out, you can now use the cig money to buy more detailing supplies!

I have never smoked, so I can't profess to know what you're going through Dalton. However, I can say that I admire your decision to quit and wish you the best. That sentiment also goes for everyone else in this thread who has managed to kick the smoking habit. :bigups

congrats dalton, I never started but I know it's tough to quit.

Think about all the new products you'll be able to try with the extra $15/day you're saving.
