Again I completely understand your issue with the PC acronym. However, learning all the acronyms used in detailing discussion (at least on the internet) is just part of the learning process. Acronyms are used ad nauseum on these forums. It's just part of the jargon.

Agreed totally. You can't beat us, so join us. :surrender

At this point it would appear you're just being ridiculous for the sake of having something to complain about. :boot

I guess that means that you don't like my answer to your question.

I don't know what happened to the reply I already posted here but I'll try this again:

What it means is, you're being totally ridiculous. You shouldn't be participating in a detailing related website if you can't handle how things are done. Like I already said, it's as if you're complaining just for the sake of complaining. It's ridiculous.

If at first you can't figure out what's going on, ask a question or do a search. We're fine with answering questions, even if it's the same question that keeps being asked repeatedly. After a couple times of seeing and digesting information, though, you should be able to start to make the association automatically. I mean, how much can you possibly realistically expect us to do just so you don't have to look further or ask questions? We aren't here to hold your hand, and it isn't like we don't provide acronym lists and archived information to help you. That's just how things are, and you'll have to learn to accept it.

Maybe a moderator cleaned up what you wrote because you are being out of line.

No need to get all upset about this and call me ridiculous. I started this thread to help others like the guy that thought a PC was a table saw.

I frequent photography forums quite often and you will seldom, if ever, when posting a photograph for evaluation read that someone "took this picture with my Canon Eos1V" or somesuch. The specific camera doesn't matter. It's the result that counts. Nobody's going to be able to tell the difference between having used a Makita model 12345 vs. a Porter Cable 54321, so it's extraneous information. That's why it's just noted as to whether a Rotary or a PC was used, cuz in the grand scheme of things the specific model or brand used doesn't matter, just HOW it was used and the RESULTS attained.

:lfmao :lfmao You have the nerve to call ME out of line?? :lmfao

Pot. Kettle. Black.

Frankly, your request/demand is what is out of line, here. Many of us have now explained to you not only the way things are, but WHY they are the way they are. Yet you continue to push it. That is, say it with me now, RIDICULOUS.

No need to get all upset about this and call me ridiculous. I started this thread to help others like the guy that thought a PC was a table saw.

No one's upset... or at least no one WAS upset. Frankly, if the truth hurts, pop a Tylenol. As I've now said multiple times, we're all fine with answering a question or clarifying things as needed, but to say that every minute detail should be included in every post is totally unreasonable.

I think that a new member shouldn't be afraid to just ask questions, or take the time and effort to look things up for themselves. Is THAT too much to ask? There's no reason I can see why the majority of us should be held to unnecessary standards just because a minority group can't seem to get with the program and ask questions or start searching and reading.

Now, since I know you're just trolling at this point, I'm going to bow out of this. I only hope that eventually you see the light and accept that things are the way they are, and they aren't changing. Good luck with that.

Ah, but his point is that PC is a brand name and not a type of machine. Porter Cable makes a "Rotary," and therefore using the term "PC" to describe their dual-action polisher is a misnomer.

You are definitely correct that in the grand scheme, it doesn't matter which exact model/etc. was used, as that is extemporaneous information. In this situation, though, it's just the acronym police playing a symantics game. :howdy

Yes, I got somewhat lost on the PC is more than just a DA buffer argument. I also have a Porter Cable Rotary as well. Another photography forum analogy applicable here is the acronym for a digital single lens reflex camera, ie DSLR. However, there are literally dozens of types and makes of DSLR's, even within the same manufacturer, that do the same thing via slightly different means, but they are still just called DSLR's by anyone who frequents the forums or is into photography. Anyone can figure that one out by simply doing a search or reading a few posts, and I don't think anyone ever requested that it be changed.

Am I the only one who feels there really isn't a point here?

It's just a thread I started to help clarify the whole PC/DA thing to folks that might be confused. A few folks may seem agitated that I would even bring up such a thing but it is a valid topic of conversation.

I'm just a guy that I had something on my mind based on a person that I knew that was confused and what I was seeing online. I said what I had to say and I did have a point. All opinions count and differing points of view have been heard.

PC and ROTARY is alot easier then a bunch of Brand names and model numbers. I want the 10 minutes i wasted reading this thread back Blinded.

Heres how i see it. If your too stupid to figure out what a pc is simply by ASKING you shouldn't even be using one. So much for the Idiot Proof saying about them.

I just got dumber reading this thread and I'm going to lock this thread so that I don't have to read anymore of it.

There were a few intelligent posts in this thread, just a few though.

By the way, I'm back.
