This thread is too much..... $1500 Benjamins for a small package of wax? I heard a lot of you guys saying the "Zymol blue cleaner wax" found in Pep Boys, Walmart, Auto Zone, etc was made by Turtle Wax? Now I see that Zymol really makes it!!! Thirdly, I really couldn't give two sh#$s about how much a wax costs, as long as it lives up to its name and price. If it looks like $1400 (sorry, $1402), then more power to it.....
And Geeky Steve.....Evolution is unavoidable....everyone on this site will be using some different product by next year...heck, I have used different products just being here for 3 months!!! You hit the nail on the head with that one.
Finally, correct me if I am wrong, but i think Jay Leno uses Meguiar's
....I have the Meg catalog and there is a pic of Jay in there chatting with Barry.....

I posted the initial impressions somewhere in this thread. I washed it on Saturday and I have to say that I notice a definate lack of slickness on the Vintage side. It isn't that bad, but if you were blindfolded and you felt one fender and then the other then I believe you would be able to tell the difference. I want it to see some weather so I can find out what it does with the dust. Is it like Souveran or P21S as far as how well it rinses off. We have a storm coming this weekend so maybe I'll find out. :xyxthumbs
I did notice right off the bat that Vintage slightly darkens my paint. When I first put it on it was very noticable to me. Probably not something that a camera would pick up (particularly on a white car) but it was there. That could lend to better reflection on a dark car. I'm looking for a dark test car as we speak.

Jeepers, I was expecting to hear some great things about Zymol but you just saved me some serious pocket change...
I'd like to know how long it lasts and what type of protection it offers against dust and how it "repels" dirty rain water as you have stated PS12 does so well.

Well, I clayed and polished out the Integra yesterday and applied a coat of the new UPP. Ahhhh.... nothing like the shine and depth of a freshly polished and sealed car.
There are a few things I can tell you about Zymol from this test.
1. It doesn't take abuse very well. This isn't a product for a daily driver. From what I could feel, it began to lose slickness after the first wash. After a rain storm it didn't fair much better. I could put one hand on the one side of my bumper and one on the other side and clearly feel the difference in slickness.
2. It does repel water well. After a rain storm after about 10 days of no rain the dirt rinsed off the car nearly as well as the P21S did. That part is good.
3. It keeps much more water on the surface than the P21S. P21S forms beads that just run right off. That could be a slickness factor. The Vintage side formed larger beads that didn't roll off as easily. I think I would attribute that to slickness.
4. Appearance. I would have to say they are very similar. However, even in direct sunlight from the third story above the parking lot I could tell that the vintage side darkens the paint a little bit. Maybe its just because I could see it up close and I knew it was there. Maybe I was just foolin myself, but I swear I could see the difference. The Vintage does darken the paint a bit though. My guess is that is why it is so reflective. On a light car it is visible and I would guess that the effect on a dark car is very dramatic.
My conclusion is that its a nice wax that would probably be great for show but not durable enough for a daily driver. The shine is very nice and probably even nicer on a dark car. Like I said, I think that may come from the fact that it darkens the paint.
I didn't notice any swirl filling going on with it so I wouldn't guess it would be much good for that. It didn't stain the trim that I tested it on so I'd say it is safe for that too.
Overall its a good wax but definatly not worth the price. I wouldn't give up my P21S for it. I'm happy to have it in my garage and will be thankful to F 355 forever for being gracious enough to send it to me. Its a fine show car wax. On a scale of 1 to 10 with (in my opinion) P21S being a high 8 or 9 I would have to give Zymol Vintage a solid 6. It is better than your average wax for sure but it lacks the durability for what most of us are going to be looking for in a carnauba.

Let me explain a few things posted earlier.
1. The stuff looks funny because I had to scrape it out of a container with a butter knife and divide it up between two people. I put it in a baggy and had to flatten it to make it fit in a Priority Mail Video Box. Hence, the unusual appearance of the product. Otherwise, it looks like any other wax.
2. Regarding the type of people that would buy this kind of product: Not me. I used Zymol Concourse before switching over to P21S. However, the $1400 Vintage was purchased as a birthday gift for me by my loving, well intentioned (but misguided) girl friend. She’s a blonde - Need I say more? LOL Personally, I would have like to have seen her spend the $1400 had Victoria Secret instead.
3. Hand Application - Zymol comes in a polystyrene container with a rubber “O Ringâ€� on the lid to keep the product air tight. They claim that enzymes are released from the wax when mixed with air and that acts as a catalyst and allows the wax to harden. Working it by hand, IMHO is all hype. It also is awkward because after you apply it, then reach for a MF to wipe it off, you have wax all over your hands and the MF - I think you got the idea…Like Jngrbrdman, I switched to a foam pad and the results were no different.
I have done many, many side by side comparisons, to be truthful about 30 products. I take pictures and keep detailed journals of each test so I can go back last year & remember the results and my comments. To me, the P21 gave better results.

Sidebar - It has been reported by many companies that, because pure Carnauba is solid, the highest content of carnauba in a paste wax can not exceed about 30%. Zymol states their waxes contain 37% - 61% carnauba by volume. The higher the content, the higher the price. So, I submitted my question regarding exceeding 30% content to Zymol directly. I spoke to their tech engineer and he would give me no plausible answer other than “Everybody is entitled to their opinionâ€� and would not comment any further on the percentage of wax content….Hmmmm

Well, well, well........ I got the same BS when I called Zymol about their "Concourse" wax. It appears these so-called "Engineers" are liers. A Zymol engineer I spoke with had the nerve to tell me "you paint needs to breathe" and "zaino is bad for your paint" and "Zaino seals your paint so it can't breathe and your paint will fade eventually because it is sealed".

This product changed a couple opinions I had about Zymol. One is that no matter what people say about them, it did look good and it did rinse dust off like P21S does. That has to say something. Regardless of what their engineers say or blah blah blah blah.... I still think that Zymol has some merit to them as a show car wax. I wouldn't say they are a joke though.
