I may be a convert...HD resuts

Hi everyone,

I found a local supplier for 3D and bought the polish, poxy, nitro, pads, and APC. The guys at California's Finest Detail Supply in San Jose were very helpful and friendly. I have just about everything from megs, mostly because it can be purchased locally, but I may convert to 3D products. I have been nothing but amazed of all the products. I am just a weekend warrior with a 09 VW GTI, please take a look at my pictures after using HD Polish. I corrected the paint about 2 months ago with megs mf and d300, so there were only slight scratches.i used the polish on the HD green pad. Any input or advice on the outcome would be greatly appreciated. The product had a great working time and removed easily.

Very nice results, I'd like to see some better pictures. Not sure if you can get the paint any better, but if I could see some sun pictures, I'd comment. :)

I will snap off a few more pictures tomorrow, thank you for the comments guys. My 2 year old daughter came outside after i finished the car, and she used it as a mirror to apply the lip gloss she took from the wife's purse...cutest thing ever, until she decided to put some lip gloss on the reflection. I laughed...and cried.

Its not as clean as it could be, my office has a dirt road behind it that is used daily by truckers.

Thanks for the comments :)

I have poxy on it for now. I'll put nitro when I get a free weekend. Hopefully soon, before winter

The paint is definately very reflective and deep looking! A couple of swirls and rids here and there, but unless you want to step up to a more aggressive combination I'd just concentrate on maintaining the finish you're obviously happy with. Kudos!

Thanks guys. This is my dd. Should I even try for a flawless paint? I have swirls from my own bad technique. Should I tackle the rids and swirls now or after winter? After I do the corrections ill be putting on the nitro:-)

If you think you can keep the finish swirl free, than do it. IF NOT, THEN JUST DO THE BEST YOU CAN.

Don't fall victim to the "curse of Autopia" where you start thinking that every vehicle has to be perfectly marring-free all the time ;)

If *you* are satisfied with how it looks, then it looks fine.

I have swirls from my own bad technique.

Now if you're *not* satisfied with how it looks, then we can probably help point you in the right direction. But you gotta ask yourself just how involved do you *really* want to get with this stuff? Life's not a car show.

I'd lean towards after winter. For now I'd be all about cleaning the interior, as dirt makes things wear out faster.

And I'd be especially concerned about doing the undercarriage (dirt retains moisture, moisture leads to rust) and getting a regimen in place to do your winter cleanups properly. Shiny cars look nice, but the big thing is to prevent corrosion, especially in areas that are out-of-sight, out-of-mind.

Thank you for the advise, although I may have the curse of Autopia. I don't think I will do this professionally, its more of therapy/hobby in a way. In reality, I'm not satisfied with the way it looks, although my friends and family say it looks perfect. I just ordered the CG Foam gun, another grit gaurd, and new MF towels from CG. To hep reduce the chances of me instilling more scratches because the paint is rock hard to remove swirls. I have been able to achieve good correction with Meg's d300/mf. I do not have the talent to use the bottle of 105 without it instantly flashing on the paint.

Winter regimen - I live in the CA Bay Area, and never gave much thought to winter prep, anything I should do? I have only seen undercarriage dressings but nothing to actually protect. I have HD Poxy on the care now, should I strip it and apply the Nitro?

If you are happy with the look of POXY, leave it on - if you want something even better, by all means try it. The look is really something else.

Opticoat will help reduce the minor wash induced marring. I applied it to a Subaru that has notoriously soft paint and I am hoping it will keep the swirls to a minimum. I applied it to keep it lookig it's best. I hope it will pay off. I am only about 6 weeks in buy so far so good. The rain keeps it pretty clean-lol

Since its your DD and I know you said its parked outside all the time, I'd wait til after winter before I went for perfection unless its bothering you that much.

Its all in your technique in keeping it perfect since you seem to have all the supplies needed to keep it that way:2thumbs:
