I Made The Jump This Weekend

Just One More Coat
I went to the Edge waffle pads with the new quick disconnect thingy on it for my rotary...my thoughts on it at this time is the waffle pads seem to sling product a bit more, maybe I have to develop the technique...its a lot better than the old Velcro backing ones....you have more working surface, and can tilt the pad to get into tighter areas. I like it alot and it will make me use the rotary more often because of the simplicity of the system

I got mine from a local distributor 3 pads with the adaptor for $60.00

Sounds good. I was thinking of getting the new E2KW Pads for the rotary. I am thinking of switching to E2K pads over all from the LC pads. More and more I read the more reasons I find to make the switch all together.

ill probably be making the jump soon as well... im waiting for someone to run a sale on a pad kit though as my pads will still last me quite awhile

Another one leaning towards the Edge system for the rotary. I had also been inclined to opt for the waffle pads, but I thought I had read that they had less sling associated...

Did you select the 6" or 8" pads? Which colors? Oh, and $60 bucks for that package sounds like a deal!

These are the 8 inch pads, it came in a kit of 3 pads...green, blue and yellow...basic package...I want to get the black and white pads now those are the only two left in foam and then I will have all of them...it was a good deal for me its like buying 6 pads and getting the adaptor free

Eric was telling me i should switch over the other day. He offered me the same deal. Think im going to go ahead and do it. I havent heard any complants about them yet.

They're the pads I started on and will continue to use until they're no longer available, and God forbid that day comes ;)

Dave, I thought you've been using the Edge system for some time now? However I do remember when I first picked up the waffle pads I rarely, rarely used them because I too got more sling than I'd like. I used to use the blue Wave pad but never really liked it either, so I stuck to flat and my green/yellow wave's just sat. I toasted my green pad about a month ago and started using the wave again and for some reason I'm really happy with it now. On light to medium colors it works really effectively with the right polish, doesn't leave any swirl marks behind (with the right product)and does a great job of removing imperfections :bigups

FWIW I was using the same green pad for about 6-7 months with little to no wear. It finally kicked the bucket when I dropped the machine (Oops...), it landed on the pad and it SNAPPED the inner plate :wow:
Never failed me until then :notme:

I been using the Edge system but with the Velcro backing......recently I toasted the last decent pad that I had and decided it was time to make the jump...great system but the waffles sling a lot more than I am use to...with some practice over the weekend I got the reduced quite a bit...I do enjoy not having to clean the pads as much...the waffle seems to have less build-up...and if that happens just turn it over and start new.

...much...the waffle seems to have less build-up...and if that happens just turn it over and start new.

This is one aspect of the system that I can't quite grasp the benefit. I mean if the pad surface already has product and is inclined to slinging product, do you really want that facing you?

I'm still interested in the fact that you guys are experiencing "excessive" (read more than expected) amount of product sling with the waffle pads and I thought I had read that the waffle design was intended to reduce (or even eliminate) sling.

I'm about 95% "sling-free" with the Waffle pads now. I've found that if I let go of the trigger right before picking up on the bead and use a little extra pressure, then start spreading the product around, it doesn't sling. I'm not perfect with them yet but I'm happy with them now. IMO they even make it easier to control the machine. I haven't noticed additional buffing time over flat pads either :)

I'd really like to get some of the waffle pads, but I still have 4 or 5 regular Edge pads that I haven't even used yet. So many products, so little time.

The sling that I am talking about is from when you put on the pad and hit the trigger...it slings out from under the pad...what I found to do is smear some on the car then attack that with the pad....again I am getting use to it....and developing my technique

I just ordered the edge 6" package and 3 waffle pads because my velcro pads won't stay on any more..
Theres nothing worse than having your pads spinning off while polishing.. I hope I enjoy my new pads :yay
