I just may have converted...

I just may have converted my neighbor to VM/s100. He was waxing his Durango when I grabbed my jar of s100 and VM and offered to do a panel for him. He was using some furniture wax from the 80s! :shocked Then he went on about how he used to work for a detail shop and they used this wax on every car!

He also told me that one coat last him about a year on the Durango(daily driver; outside 24/7). I told him about the realistic durability expectations for a carnauba, and then talked to him about sealants. He wanted to learn more about Zaino; he had seen it at a Corvette show a while ago.

Anyways, after I finished glazing/waxing his door, he stepped back and said "Wow, that really looks nice!". :bigups

I told him he could use some of my products next time he waxes his car. I might just be able to turn him into an Autopian! It's fun to pass on knowledge to the people who want to make their cars look better!

I'm sure you guys have had some similar experiences??

My Dad asked me to buy him several of the products I used as a Christmas gift a few years ago. He is really hooked on QEW, Quikshine and S100.

I would try to convert people such as my neighbors, but if I do one panel they would then say "hey, that looks good, now why don't you do the rest?" knowing these lazy bums.

I offered a neighbor kid of mine a free detail . wth was I thinking ey.

Anyways he drives an older black Buick , but VERY clean for it's age except one spot where a touch up was done and clear is peeling near the rear 1/4 . I left the 1/4 unwaxed and polished for a edge feather out and clear touch up . Minor swirls also .

I washed with Mothers CA gold , let engine soak with Simple Green & sprayed the rims with eagle one orange bottle and rubber with mother's rubber cleaner and let sit for 15 minutes , then rinsed and Wesley's tire white and rinsed thourougly << spell check :-|

Washed again as I clayed , and used my old Meg's 3 step .

Except I used 3m machine glaze + orange 4" after running over the orange peeled body with 3m PI-III RC 05933 and a yellow 6" pad 1st before 3 stage Meguiars

Then the paint cleaner with green , polish with blue and removed with mother's showtime and an MF and hand applied step #3 banana carnuba liquid .

Removed with my little brothers Turtle Wax 6" buffer and an MF bonnet and shot Armor All original on engine and tires ..

He looked at it - paused , bit his lip I think and looked back at me . Went in his pocket , gave me $50 for my 5 hours ..

Said car has never ever looked as sweet ..

I offered to do it free because his family all drive Rovers , Vettes and 2004 + cars so I figured a little good publicity in the neighborhood can't hurt . I was bored today anyways nothing at all to do .

I gave him a quick lesson on how to wash to not introduce swirls and he's going to autoZone tomorrow to get a fireman's nozzle , some EagleOne wash , 2 buckets some MF's , a chenille mitt and a waffle weave ...

He's still going to come to me for his clay/polish/wax jobs though :-)

CONVERTED !

My goal is to set up a time were I can do my neighbors 79 corvette stingray. That paint has some seriously nice swirls in the paint. He was talking about a repaint last time I was with him and the car. I think if I make him spend some time caring for it while I detail it and show him the proper ways to detail it It will be a success.

i ride my mtn bike/run around the neighborhood and notice how some people who wash their cars admire the work they've done (especially the new car owners) they think it's "clean", when in fact they just scratched/marred it with the contaminated wash mitt/soap solution and grungy towels that they are using. i would stop and converse with them on good proper technique, but don't want to insult them if they take it the wrong way. :nervous:

Roll up on dem foos imacarnut !!

" scuse me neighbor xxxx... , but I noticed you are dipping your washing tool into the same bucket that is full of dirty water , may I make a small suggestion for a cleaner , safer and generally better wash please "

They won't take it bad unless they take everything badly .

IN that case just say k then neighbor xxxx... see ya later :xyxthumbs

P.S. Do you put sealant on your frame and VM on your fork and dressing on your tires and seat ?

Haha, I've relegated my old jar of GC to just this cause. Gotta keep my bike shiny. I hope I'm not the only one that does this! :hide:

No, you are not the only one. I Zaino-ified my bike before a long mountain ride and found I could just easily hose it off afterwards. The question is, do you polish your rims? I don't go THAT far...
