I just did something I haven't done in more than 10 years

42 degrees is practically a heat wave here in December. I would be wearing a T shirt washing my car in that kind of weather. You people in the warm weather states are so spoiled.:)

hey, I was in shorts, t shirt and sandals :D

-10 here on Christmas Eve, -2 this morning :( Suppose to warm up, but when I have an insulated garage at 55, QEW, and a 40,000 BTU heater with a fresh tank of propane, the 18 inches of snow we got will get washed off well :D

Christmas Eve morning it was under 20 degrees when I used warm water and QEW in the garage to do my wife's ride. I absolutely love QEW in the winter. I hate leaving salt on the cars for more than a couple of days but can't wait for it to warm up so that I can get the wheel wells and undercarriage sprayed off.

Just call me lucky. I have gas and electric heat,a floor drain, hot & cold water, and a bath room & shower in my garage. I will miss this when we move next year. :-)

I got made fun of and called a "redneck" for QEWing my "truck" in my buddy's driveway, Christmas Eve morning at about 8am (32* out). :nixweiss But there was just no way I was going to show up at my family's house for Christmas with the Jeep covered in the salt and grime of my 850 mile trip in the snow and rain. I tried doing the whole roof at once, but wound up with icing. So I did one panel at a time and shot some Sonus on as I dried. A little cold, sure, but I was quite happy with the results and the compliments I got later in the day.

YIKES, all these cold weather stories makes me glad to be living in So. Calif. rarely below 65 during the day, no snow, no ice, no salt, and if it rains we wait 2 days and we're all sunny & warm again. :D

I've been wanting to work on my car and install the new stereo I got for christmas, but its been a little cold, yesterdays high was about -5 F. Oh well, guess ill have to wait for a few weeks for it to warm up.

Wow, I guess I could never live on the east coast. I don't even bother washing my car when it's 60F outside. :nixweiss

Last Summer while I was hobbling around one-legged, I had my Wife use the touchless wash several times. I haven't found a touchless wash that is very effective, admittedly I haven't tried many (if anyone knows one, please post). During the cold days (which thankfully are few) I take my chances at a DIY "wand" wash bay. Follow up with PB's Spray & Wipe and it is better than dirty :D The wheel wells are free of major debris, but not as clean as scrubbed, and not dressed, but again...better than dirty. ;)

What happened that you were hobbling around on one leg?

I just used one, first time on this car. I feel dirty...but at least the car's not.

Actually it turned out fine. No damage, a couple stray swirls on the lower body panels but that might have been leftover after my quick buffing following my bad detailer wash experience (see my thread on that if you're interested). I just got back from a trip to upstate NY and the car was filthy, dirtier than it has ever been and hopefully it will ever be (I went to back it into the driveway last night to unload and it was so dirty I could hardly even see out the side mirrors) and I have too much going on to wash it right now, even though its nice out. We have a carwash here that has two tunnels, a full service one and a ride through where they do nothing, which is the one I used. Maybe its really the drying afterwards that creates the swirls not so much the wash mechanism itself. This one is brand new though...

So it came out, I did a quick once over with WAUD and a waffle weave to get the stray drips, dressed the tires and I was good to go. I'm not going to make a habit of it though...
