I just bought a PC and wanted help with the type of pads to use....

So I decided to buy a PC for my new Blue FJ Cruiser. I have come a long way in such a short time that I am afraid of messing things up. I researched, read and took down notes from everyone so I am looking for confirmation that I got this down correctly....please tell me if what Im about to do will hurt the paint. I am very new at this PC and am scared to use it....Thanks.



I am going to ....



1. Wash

2. Clay.

3. Wash

4. Prep with PBSSR1 using PC with Lake Country Orange Pad (MTowel buff)

5. Polish with Klasse AIO using PC with Lake Country White Polishing Pad (MTowel buff)

6. Glaze with KSG using PC with Lake Country Gray Pad (MTowel buff)

7. Wax with Natys Blue using PC with Lake Country Blue Pad

8. Finally buff wax with PC Lambswool pad with Cobra Microfiber Bonnet



I am also going to moisten the pads with QD before using.



I guess my main concern was since my truck is new and the paint is in good shape, with some slight swirl marks, is my step 4 (prep with PBSSR1 with Orange pad) too much? or should I use the white pad as well? And can I use my products with the PC? It seems that its going to be difficult for me to apply a thin coat using the AIO and SG using PC. I am guessing that these two will be best applied by hand. With that I can only probably use the PC for the Prep and Wax stages -- unless I get a PC compatible sealant and glaze. (any suggestions?)

No need to wash again after claying. I usually clay while washing. But if you're using a clay lube you still shouldn't need to re-wash afterwards.



SSR1 is a very mild polish that I only use to finish with after swirls have already been removed. But since your car is new it may be all you need. You may want to start with the white pad and if that works, go that route. If not try the orange pad. If you notice any hazing aftwerwards (probably won't with SSR1 but maybe the pad would leave some), do another pass with SSR1/white pad.



AIO makes a nice base for sealant or wax. Sounds good.



SG can be difficult to remove if over-applied. Use sparingly.



I don't top SG (or the PRIME/AJT combo for that matter) with a carnauba, but it won't hurt if you do. Just may change the look. Might mute the SG some. If it were me I'd do either AIO/SG or AIO/NB
 
SG won't apply well with a PC - you need to go as thin as possible in applying it, or it will be an absolute pain to remove. Seems most people (including me) prefer to use an MF applicator for it. I find that putting it in a little mister and using one pump for every 2x2-3x3 area or so makes things a lot easier.
