I just blew over $700 and I'm so excited!

I really want a spoiler..[but]... I decided that I'll wait until after winter for that though...

That's probably a good idea, and if you have to drill holes for the spoiler it's just one more thing to consider with the salt/etc.

Yeah I'll have to drill two holes in the trunk. I'm not sure if I should attempt the install myself or take it to a body shop. Any opinions?

While the procedure is straightforward and can be a DIY thing, I'd probably recommend taking it to a shop- a good shop where you can talk with them about the things that can go wrong, mainly rust. Assuming they can line it up right (should hope so!) you still have to worry about the little steel shavings from drilling the holes and you have to put something (e.g., POR-15) on the bare metal edges of the holes.

Oh, and many spoilers come with a template for proper positioning and/or said template is often in the factory service manual. I'd ask about that before anybody starts drilling holes ;)

Nice wheels and tires!

I just bought a new set of Yokohama AVIDs from Tirerack.com and you can't beat the prices or customer service!

Kumhos of recent have received generally good reviews. They sound like a good deal for the money!

I had some Kumho touring tires on my Maxima, and they were OK for the most part, but they couldn't hold the torque that I was putting down. Not the best tire for that car, but it was a touring tire, not a performance tire. I think I expected too much from a tire that wasn't designed to deliver what I was looking for.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that my brother called and said that my tires and wheels have arrived and are waiting for me in the living room. :D

I made it well-known that I don't want ANYONE touching them. Don't open them, don't bump them...just put them somewhere where they're out of the way until I get there to pamper them! :o

Looking at the tires i'm guessing these will be dedicated summer wheels?

Good luck with them I just saw a Protege with a very similiar(if not exact) wheel at school yesterday, looked a lot better than the "steelies".

Yes these are dedicated summer wheels.

Here's the pictures you've all been waiting for...

The noise level has dramatically decreased from the crap tires that were on the 14" steelies. The tires are nearly silent on smooth roads. The handling...holy crap! This is becoming a very fun car! :D I didn't go too hard on it since the tires are supposed to be broken in a little gentler than that.

I had two neighbors come over and tell me that the wheels are very nice. They certainly are.

The one thing that I was dissapointed by, was the fact that the steel 14s are lighter than the 15" alloys. I thought for sure the steel ones would be heavier. Oh well. I can't tell any difference when I'm driving so I'm not concerned about it.

I just got up, looked out the window onto the driveway, and couldn't help but smile! :D I'm so happy with my purchase!

Next is the custom license plate and painted calipers. How about some opinions - should I paint them silver or black?

I think you could go either way on the caliper color; as you know black will contrast while silver will match, I think they'd both look good, I'd maybe give the edge to the black. IIRC, those wheels have a bright lip; if you've got a chance, could we see a pic where we can appreciate the silver/clear contrast?

I thought that wheel had a silver-painted surface, but that the lip was bright/clear? The description on the Tire Rack site says "Silver w/Machined Lip".

You oughta smile, those look great! They look like they'll be really easy to reach into to clean too.

I'd paint the calipers black myself. But then that's what I have on the S8- silver car, silver wheels, black calipers. Classy and understated IMO but still a bit of "something" that the silver calipers wouldn't have. Silver car, silver wheels, silver calipers- just too much silver even for me.

Upon very close inspection (like when I'm washing the wheels very slowly/carefully), the lip seems to be a bit brighter than the rest. It's not much of a difference though.

I was thinking black too. I like to keep my color scheme close to equal. I've got lots of silver shining brightly on the car, then the wheels and the chrome exhaust tip and grill bar. I've got black trim and window tint, and I think I need a little more black.

Very nice! I remember when I went from the same type of steel wheels w/plastic hubcaps to aluminum wheels when I had my Accord. Very satisfying modification. I know exactly what you mean when you say you look at your car and can't help but smile.

Good choice going with the 15's. I know the trend is to much larger wheels but the tires cost a whole lot more and unless you have a serious suspension set-up you never take advantage of the extra tire. In addition the added unsprung weight can have a negative impact on braking and acceleration.

My 626 has some nice 15 x 6 factory alloys, if I get new wheels, I would not go larger than 16's.
