Sometimes, as in carpet stains, you can hit with some cleaner, let dwell, then steam, but on hard surfaces, steam it wipe it.
no chemicals, just steam.

a little FYI! I emailed SEACO as to why they are discontinuing the steamer? They replyed as that the North American SEACO is focusing on coffee machines and dropping the steamer. They still manufacture them over seas. They said that the Picolo has been a good steamer with very little complaints. Hope this is true and we will have to find out about getting replacement parts in the future. Even if you can't for $50 you can't go wrong with this steamer.
I can't wait to try it out!!
