Has anyone out there had a good customer service experience from UPS? I have a couple of packages that are supposed to be shipped today. I've called several times to ask them to hold the package at their facility and I will pick it up. Well, each time they say it has to arrive at the facility that puts it on the truck. Okay, well it's there now. But, they say now that one delivery attempt must be made before they can hold the package for pick up. They say that they have an obligation to the shipper to make at least one delivery attempt. I'm the one paying the shipping! I should make that decision. I have never had this type of experience with FedEx. FedEx allows you to hold the package at any time, even while it's on the truck for delivery! I wish everyone would give a choice of UPS or FedEx. I would take FedEx every time. They both ship the package fine, but the customer service is soooo much better with FedEx.

The reason why I am upset is that I have some detailing products coming. It's supposed to rain tomorrow and into Sunday. It's going to be a beautiful day today. I just got my PC, and I want to use it. Well, there's no telling whether they'll deliver at 10am or 5pm. Oh well, I guess their stupid policy has ruined my plans. Next time I will even ship USPS if I have to. UPS is terrible! :angry

I've have had similar problems with UPS. :(

I have found that by calling the facility that is responsible for putting the package on the truck that is going to deliver it, I was able to have it held for pick-up & once I even managed to redirect it to a different address (home vs work). The number for your local facility is not easy to get - I called the local UPS air freight office - found in phone book - and begged them for the "delivery" station phone number. Then I called them & explained the situation, and they were much more willing to work with me to make a change to the delivery. Forget the ususal "customer service" toll free phone number!!! They insist on playing by their rules!! :ticked

Good luck in your quest!!

I can't say I hate them because they have been pretty good to me but I can say that they just recently annoyed the hell out of me. I scheduled to receive a shipment on 3/23. When it didn't arrive I checked my tracking number and it said that it was delievered. I was home that day so I know it didn't arrive. I just want my stuff!!!

Guess why i switched to FedEX:lol ...I also like FedEx since they deliver on Saturdays which make a lot of people detailing very happy:) ...what is strange is that they won't deliver to homes on Monday:confused:

When shipping personally, I have always used FedEx. They are definitely cheaper than UPS, and even USPS Priority Mail. FedEx has just always been ahead of the curve on customer service. I've even redirected a package while it was out for delivery. Now that's customer service!

I think the problem is that all these places have special deals with UPS which makes it cheaper for them. I know with ebay and yahoo linked stores, they only offer UPS or USPS for the shipping options. Pretty crappy. I guess ebay and Yahoo must've signed deals with UPS.

Only trouble I've is not being home for Fedex Express to pickup the package. They require you to sign for it, therefore voiding the leaving at the doorstep option! What further annoyed me was they wouldn't let me sign for the package at the actual distribution center because I'm not 18! A little ridiculous considering I bought the package and it my name. STupid policies!

Otherwise service with all 3 have been very good

UPS is light years ahead of FedEx, or any other parcel service for that matter, when it comes to automating the shipping process and integrating seamlessly with ecommerce applications.

With Four Star, I was known for being able to process 50 orders and get them labeled and ready for a UPS pickup within 3 hours. The technology that UPS has to offer is what made that possible.

If I was shipping 5-10 packages per day, FedEx would be fine. Ship 50-75 per day with a Yahoo Store and you would be opting for UPS too. :bigups

Who remembers the days of "Allow 6-8 weeks for delivery"? Now, with today's technology, I get a bad rap if the orders doesn't show up in 7 seven days to Australia! :dunno

I'm going to lock this thread. I like UPS and have a great relationship with this company. No company is perfect. I remember when FedEx left packages in front of my store that were leaking Natural Look like a faucet. The blue lake was 5 feet in diameter!!! I saw the FedEx driver running away because he didn't want to deal with it. Guess who HATED FedEx that day!
