Surface Preparation:
Using Menzerna Intensive & Final II polishes, Klasse All-In-One wax, Menzerna Finishing Glaze, a Menzerna or Zanio polymer sealant and a Pinnacle Carnauba wax
Methodology
1. Wash-use a pH balanced pre wash treatment (Stage One PreWash) spray two â€â€œ three panels and rise off with low pressure water (this will avoid spay dying and causing water spots) once the vehicle has been pre-treated rinse the entire vehicle with low pressure water.
â€Â¢Use a quality car wash shampoo specifically formulated for automotive use, one that contains conditioning lubricants (Menzerna Auto Shampoo) 1.0oz per 2 gallon that enable abrasive particles to rinse off without abrading the paints surface.
â€Â¢Rinse vehicle and dry thoroughly to avoid any water spots.
2. Detailer's Clay â€â€œremove any imbedded contaminants with detailing clay (Clay Magicâ„¢ â€ËœBlueâ€â„¢) and a 5:1 solution of (Distilled water/Woolite®) surface lubrication
Application
â€Â¢Since a clay bar is so effective at removing deposits it will also remove wax
â€Â¢Divide the Detailer's Clay into equal pieces and knead into a ball to ensure pliability
â€Â¢Take one of the pieces and flatten it out into a small circle, approximately enough that it will fit into the palm of your hand.
â€Â¢Spray an area of 2-foot x 2-foot with a lubricating solution (WooliteTM or Dreftâ„¢ / Water 5:1) use an even applied pressure to the paint surface, ensure that the surface being clayed is always wet
â€Â¢Glide the Clay across the area in a front to back in a straight-line aquaplaning type motion
â€Â¢Use a light to medium even pressure until the surface becomes smooth and silent.
â€Â¢If the Clay is streaking on the paint, you need more to apply more lubricating solution, it is better to over lubricate the paint film surface than let it dry-out
â€Â¢When the Clay is moved across the paint film surface you should hear a friction sound and some resistance. This is the grit being lifted from the paint. When the resistance and noise stops, dry the solution off with 100% cotton Alpine DF Microfiber cloth
â€Â¢To avoid wasting detailer's clay because you probably will drop it, place a towel on the ground under the area you're claying so the clay will fall onto the towel without picking up gravel etc.
â€Â¢If you drop the clay on the ground do not try to clean it, discard it or it may cause micro scratches in your paint film surface.
â€Â¢Rinse of any clay residue and ensure there is no more contamination to remove
â€Â¢Move onto the next two-foot by two foot square area and repeat the process.
â€Â¢Once half the section is completed turn the clay over to a fresh, clean side and completes the remaining section.
â€Â¢Check the surface of the clay often, once it becomes contaminated fold to a clean surface.
â€Â¢Wash, rinse and dry each section and ensure all imbedded surface contaminants have been removed before moving on to the next panel / section
â€Â¢I would go over the paint surfaces again with the clay to ensure nothing was missed
3.Clean-paint film surface with a chemical cleaner / polish (Klasse All-In-One) using a grey / black foam pad, speed # 4.5-.5.0 and an MLS
Polish-
â€Â¢Remove surface imperfections (Menzerna Intensive Polish) CAS= 4/10, Orange /White Pad, speed # 3.5-4.0, and an machine liner speed( MLS) of 1-foot per second (FPS)
â€Â¢And /or a swirl mark remover (Menzerna Final Polish II)CAS= 3/10, White Pad, speed # 4.0 - 4.5, and an machine liner speed( MLS) of 1-foot per second (FPS)
â€Â¢Final polishing (Menzerna Final Polish II) with a grey / black foam pad, speed # 5.0, and an machine liner speed( MLS) of 2-feet per second (FPS)
Menzerna Power Gloss allows you to remove 1000 to 1500 grit paint defects in light colour paints with very little or no follow-up polishing. The abrasives in Power Gloss are a fraction of the size normally found in compounds. Additionally, these particle clusters are designed to fracture under heat and pressure (circular polishing at 1,000 to 1,200 rpm) into smaller and smaller particles.
Menzerna Intensive Polish- can be used as a spot compound to remove 2000 grit swirls, scratches and paint defects or as a whole panel compound to restore dull, oxidized or chalky finishes.
Menzerna Final Polish II- this polish can be used after compounding or anytime as a preparatory step to waxing. Removes old wax, minor spider webbing and creates a clean, smooth, highly reflective surface. Improved for 2004, the factory made a very slight change in this product for the US market. They added some lubricating oils to keep the product wetter, allowing longer polishing. This may be an advantage if you live in a climate of high heat and/or humidity (Florida, Texas, Arizona, etc.).
Don't allow Menzerna polish to â€Ëœdustâ€â„¢, work while itâ€â„¢s still wet, if you find it beginning to dust, re-apply a small amount or wet the pad, this will extend the polish as they are water soluble. Menzerna polishing compounds will give the best results if used with a high-speed rotary polisher, these polishes are water-based (technically, they're an oil-in-water emulsion) they do contain a petroleum distillate oil (lubricant) not a solvent. TUV approved (the German Automotive Safety Council) and meet or exceed ISO 9001 standards.
4A. For vehicles with PPG's CeramiClear, Mercedes-Benz Maybach and the 2005 Mercedes C-Class and the 2004-5 Rolls Royce Phantom, use Menzerna PO85RD and PO106F. These products are used by detailers to prepare and show concours dâ€â„¢ÃƒÆ’©légance automobiles show cars and by a few enthusiasts who want to experiment with cutting edge products. They are designed for high-speed rotary machine application by professional detailers; I would not recommend them for use by a car care novice or week-end enthusiast.
These polishes are better suited for use with a high-speed rotary polisher, as the micro-abrasives require heat to break down efficiently, designed to remove very fine (3000 grit) swirls from the new, super-hard, ceramic clear coats, they can also be used on conventional clear coats
â€Â¢Menzerna PO106F, CAS= 5/10, Orange /White Pad, speed 1100 RPM and a machine liner speed of (MLS) of 1-foot per second (FPS)
â€Â¢Menzerna PO85RD, CAS= 3/10 White Pad, speed 1200 and a machine liner speed of (MLS) of 2-feet per second (FPS)
5. Check surface condition- using a fine mist, spray the surface with a 1:1 solution distilled water and Isopropyl alcohol (IPA), using an aqueous solvent solution will almost eliminate static from the paint surface
â€Â¢Leave it to dwell for 30-45 seconds, agitate the surface before wiping the paint surface with clean, dry 100% cotton (DF Alpine) towel to remove sealant/wax residue. Repeat as necessary
â€Â¢The use of an electronic paint Mil thickness gauge (Checkline Model DEF-900) and a 20X, or greater magnifier to check the clear coat is highly recommended
â€Â¢Place your fingertips on the paint surface, by running your finger tips along the surface there should be resistance (tension) this is indicative of a clean paint surface i.e. without any sealant / wax /oils.
â€Â¢With suitable lighting (see Dark Field Micro Inspection) and a 20X or stronger lighted magnifying loupe, you may well see some surface marring at this magnification but the less there is the better the wax/sealants will optically reflect light.
â€Â¢For surface imperfection that if removed could compromise the clear coat apply a glaze
6.Glaze-apply a final polish / glaze (Menzerna Finishing Touch Glaze) with a grey / black foam pad, speed # 3.5 â€â€œ 4.05, and a machine liner speed of (MLS) of 2-feet per second (FPS)
Glaze- or finessing is a step used by professionals and show car owners to obtain maximum light reflection and/or liquidity. Glazes are typically polishes without any cleaning ability. They will "wet" the surface with oils to maximize surface gloss. As they contain fillers they are also used to hide surface defects that are deep enough (if you can â€Ëœfeelâ€â„¢ the scratch with a fingernail) that removal with an abrasive polish might compromise the clear coat. A Glaze is applied after polishing but before applying the final wax or sealant, glazing pads are softer than polishing pads, typically having no cleaning or cutting ability.
7. Zaino Products-
â€Â¢Z-7â„¢ Show Car Wash
â€Â¢ZFXâ„¢ Flash Cure Accelerator Additive
â€Â¢Z2PROâ„¢ Show Car Polish for Clear Coated Car Finishes
â€Â¢Z-6â„¢ Ultra Clean Gloss Enhancer Spray

8. Zanio Application:
Polymer-wash paint and dry thoroughly before the application of a polymer sealant
Methodology- Once paint surface has been prepared (see optically perfect shine)
â€Â¢Apply Z-6 to entire vehicle surface using water-dampened applicator.
â€Â¢Apply Z-solution very thinly using absolute minimum pressure on the applicator.
â€Â¢Spray the vehicle surface very lightly with Z6 between each â€Ëœlayerâ€â„¢.
â€Â¢I cannot emphasise â€Ëœapply products very sparinglyâ€â„¢ enough
â€Â¢0.5 â€â€œ 1.0 oz should be sufficient for most vehicles
â€Â¢Apply three coats of Z-5 + ZFX for dark colours or Z2Proâ„¢ + ZFX for light colours, spray the applicator with Z-6.
â€Â¢Allow a cure period of 48 hours before wiping down the vehicle with Z-8
â€Â¢Apply Zaino Z-8 Grand Finale Spray Seal to the final coat of Z2PROâ„¢ before the application of a last step product (LSP)
9.Optical Properties Application technique:
This application technique affects the paints optical properties by optimising light refraction and the reflectivity of the bodylines and contours of the vehicle.
Methodology
â€Â¢First pass: apply (ultra- thin) the product to the entire vehicle, roof to floor on vertical surfaces (doors, fenders and skirts) and across on horizontal surfaces (roof, hood and trunk)
â€Â¢Second pass (again ultra- thin) apply the product in direction of airflow, horizontal surfaces hood to trunk, vertical surfaces front to back.
â€Â¢Third pass (repeat ultra- thin) and any subsequent products or layer(s): apply in same â€Ëœdirection of airflowâ€â„¢.
10. Wax- apply a low-solvent Pinnacle Souverän Paste Carnauba wax (in a very thin layers as a (LSP) on top of the polymer and then remove while its still somewhat wet, then without removing the base layer, increase the density of the wax by (carefully to avoid micro marring) adding more wax. Spray the surface with Pinnacle Crystal Mist between each layer; allow drying to a haze and removing. (Allow a minimum of twenty four (24) hours between each application)
â€Â¢Pinnacle Souverän contains natural oils that provide a deep gloss, and a â€Ëœwet-lookâ€â„¢ to the paint film surface, ideal for Red, Black or Porsche Speed Yellow and dark vehicle colours.
â€Â¢Pinnacle Signature is perfect for metallic painted surfaces and for light colour vehicle paint With a 100% natural cotton (DFâ„¢ Towel) concourse towel, buff paint surface lightly once more after 3-4 hours to perfect the shine
11. Quick detailers-
â€Â¢Pinnacle Souverän Paste Wax contains natural oils that provide deep gloss, and a â€Ëœwet-lookâ€â„¢ to the paint film surface, ideal for Red, Black or Porsche Speed Yellow and dark vehicle colours.
â€Â¢Pinnacle Signature Paste Wax is perfect for metallic painted surfaces and for light colour vehicle paint
â€Â¢Pinnacle Crystal Mist is a blend of super-refined, Brazilian Ivory Carnauba wax, conditioning oils, and crystalline polymers. Apply a micro-fine layer after applying Souveran Carnauba wax; itâ€â„¢s a blend of super-refined, Brazilian Ivory Carnauba wax, conditioning oils, and crystalline polymers.
â€Â¢Menzerna High Gloss Acrylic Shield is a high gloss, acrylic sealant that mists on and buffs off with ease. It can be used on top of any polymer or acrylic paint sealant to increase shine and extend protectin
â€Â¢Zaino Brothers Z-8 Grand Finaleâ„¢ Spray Seal should be used if the polymer is Z2PROâ„¢ as it is formulated the same way as Z2PROâ„¢ and will enhance both its shine and durability. Zaino.Z-8 Grand Finale Spray Seal is formulated with a specialized polymeric protection system providing enhanced optical qualities, along with additional durability and slickness, along with additional protection against dust accumulations and ultra violet radiation (UVR) damage from sunlight for longer periods of time.
12. Final Buffing-
â€Â¢Apply a second misting after 2-hours hand buff surface with a 100% natural cotton (DFâ„¢Towel, it will produce a deep `wet-look' high gloss finish) concours towel
â€Â¢With a 100% natural cotton (DFâ„¢ Towel) concours towel, buff paint surface lightly once more after 3-4 hours to perfect the shine
Notes: If the vehicles paint surface is excellent condition, i.e. without the need for corrective polishing, step numbers 6, 7 and 8 (Polish) and 9 (Check surface condition) can be omitted
