I give up!

I'm tired of trying to keep the wife's car looking nice!

I'm done! From now on she can clean it herself or take it elsewhere!

End Rant! :D

So, the missus has no appreciation or regard for something you're passionate about and make your life's work? And you didn't have any indication or see this as a problem area before you signed on the dotted line? Woulda been a dealbreaker for me... but that's just me.

Some times I think they do this on purpose. I can drive my vehicle for a week and it still looks good. My wife, during the same period, looks like she went off roading. Just can't figure out where she finds puddles to drive through when it hasn't rained in weeks.

I gave up long ago and just bought her pre-paid tickets for the swirl-o-matic.

My wife is great, she has seen me come home for 17 years of detailing and knows how hard I work and does what she can to minimize damage to the car.......... but we did have the "Curb rash" talk after nailing TWO forged wheels on her Nissan Altima SER model($700 wheels a piece) had them repaired and it has not happened again:biggrin:.

Chad, you think you will leave the car alone but your O.C.Dness which makes you a great correction guy will simply not let you do this(My wifes cars were Jet Black up until two cars ago Altima/HHR SS and I would wash/wax every week like clockwork).

Just explain that this stuff causes money to leave your pockets and prevents things like shopping sprees and jewelry purchases to cease..............FOREVER.

I feel your pain brother ... that's why I didn't bother correcting her car this year. I perfomed a full interior detail 3 months ago and right now it looks like it has never been touched by anyone.

This is one of those universal truths. I get accused of my vehicle is more important than her. Her car is such a mess. It's exhausting.

Im sorry some of you guys arent getting the appreciation you deserve .

I had a similar situation only with a boyfriend who happened to also be my neighbor so everyday I would see his car getting thrashed from bird droppings ,not getting washed for weeks after I detailed it .

I would go over to his house and not let him know I was washing it and he would catch me a few times and get mad at me for washing it :Dor when he was out of town I would wash it and he wouldnt even notice that it was clean!

He appreciated me detailing it though and sometimes would pay me to do it but it would be thrashed just a few days later with trash and spills.

I guess at some point you just have to accept that some people dont care about their cars and how they look.

I really dont think its a gender thing . I have many female customers that keep their cars spotless and their husband drive it just a couple times and completely thrash it too .

I think this is more or less a woman thing but I do know a couple of guys that are like this too!

My wife sincerely loves her car when I'm finished going through it but give it a week and the same thing starts all over again.

Door panels on newer cars have pockets molded in that would hold every piece of trash but nooooooooo, she either throws it on the passenger side floor or the console!

Sometimes.......:Boxing:

You're probably right Bob. I was pretty upset seeing it the other night but I do still have this CQuartz sitting here I had purchased for her car and I may as well put it to use. ;)

Been there.

Not my wife, but my 4 sons.

Back when they were all living at home, I used to keep their cars clean, because I really liked doing it and I thought they would appreciate it.....

Well.

Not the case.

Those 4 boys are the biggest slobs I've ever seen. And their cars all smell.

Worst of all. They don't care!

Me and my wife? Nice clean cars with clean interiors!

The 4 sons? I"ve seen cleaner garbage trucks.

My suggestion Rasky and for you other guys is next time your wife wants her car detailed ask that she help you.:wink:or at least ask for something in exchange for all your hard work

Man i'm sure glad I'm not alone on this .As I have been battling my wife as well. Everytime I cleane it takes the entire day to clean just the dang interior. It just drives me crazy with the dents and various other no caring issues. Now she is hinting on a new truck. But I now just laugh and walk away.

Ummm.... at it's most basic isn't that the basis for all male/female relationships? :p

At least until the honeymoon is over...

TL
Well sure relationships are a give an take and hopefully they are somewhere around equal ( not that you keep tabs on what you do for one another )but when someone asks you(male or female)to spend all day or more cleaning their car(that they thrashed), to me thats requires something special and or equal value in return .Or you decline if you feel your being taken advantage of.

I guess maybe thats just me and how I think. Personally I dont even like people doing doing those kinds of things for me. I cant even imagine a man spending all day detailing my vehicle for me :rofl:I probably wouldnt even allow it .

My last BF spent a good deal of time helping me with My Computer so my way of thanking him was washes/waxing his car but if he wanted a full detail he paid me:biggrin:

I give you guys a lot of credit for doing this for your wives ! What a really nice thing to do for someone .

I guess marriage is a little different( its hard for me to even think like a married person ) but still I think it should atleast be appreciated when your wife or husband spends all day on you . :)

Chad, I feel your pain. My wife is the same way! Our house I dare you find dust or anything for that matter, but her car is another story! I solved this problem for the most part a few years ago by having her help with a full correction. After removing the seats and carpet from the car we proceded to place it on jack-stands and remove the wheels. Then I followed with a 3 step correction!! LOL On hour 16 I said I think were done for today! She said wow this is hard work! I said, I know... will sleep in tomorrow and start at 7am!! We spent the next day and 8 hours putting the car back together. Chad the car is 90% cleaner today. Remember HAPPY WIFE, HAPPY LIFE ....Chad lol

Not only will your wife appreciate all your hard work it may be a new way for the 2 of you to bond

Looks like I married the right woman.:hurray:

She's very appreciative and keeps the car as clean and neat as possible between weekly washings, monthly details, etc.
