I finally organized my detailing supplies!

Spilchy, you're collection is huge-normous!!!

I think I'll go cry in a corner now...

:o

I simply recycle the money I earn on the side from detailing to buy new product. So, very little has come out of my pocket. Plus when there are sales on MF's, pads, products, etc... - that's when I purchase. Over the past few years, it just grew! No more, I'm done :p (except a few go to products :D )

But White95Max shows that for very little money, you can really organize your collection :up

That's the way to do it. I have made more money from detailing than I have spent on supplies, so I think of it as working for supplies. The supplies are all used on my car, so my customers basically pay for my stuff.

Now I am starting to realize that I have everything I need, so most of the money now goes straight to the bank, to the Protege fund. :)

Oh BTW Denzil...

A package of 25 MFs arrived at my door this afternoon. :lol

YES!

I didn't even wait for the next day. I wanted to finish organizing the whole collection at once. Now it's much better.

Did you try the WG gel yet?

No gel yet. I'm waiting for a nice day to do a wash on all the cars. Right now I don't want to put WG over dirty tires = mess.

Understandable. The WG looks best and lasts the longest if you use a rubber cleaner first, to clean off any other tire products.

They stay much cleaner with a very thin coat too, and even seem to look better. I scrubbed mine with a tire brush today, and I was actually hesitant to redo the tire gel it looked so good. But...I'm trying to attract another customer tomorrow, so I figured I'd add more WG gel just to make it look the best that it could.

Oh why do you torture me!?!?!?!

LoL, all kidding aside, I think I'll just do the same like you guys mentioned as I earn money from customers. I just find it amazing how much money I have put down and I am just starting out!

So what 25 MF's did you order this time Paul and from where? I feel like I always need to update myself with your collection so that I can reference them for my future collection. :o

I ordered 25 green MFs from WCD. I did a group buy with a couple other local guys.

5 of them are for me. I want to buy a Protege first, and then I can worry about buying more MFs (like I really need them anyway :p ).

Oh and these are going to be used for the interior.

I can easily distinguish my green WCD interior-only MFs from my blue Excel exterior-only MFs.

Ahhh, perhaps I should keep some system like that going for myself when I can afford it.

Oh by the way, why the Protege ES? Why not the :bow Mazdaspeed Protege???

I would love to get a Mazdaspeed protege, or even the protege MP3. The only problem is...I can't afford them right now. I'm just looking for a fun-to-drive, economical car that can get me good gas mileage, relatively low insurance rates, and be able to haul a kayak.

My summer job involves lots of driving...occasionally 150+ miles in a day, so good gas mileage is important.

I've gotten more stuff lately, so I had to go back and get more boxes today. :)

Here they are:

I had to get my rotary out of the dusty garage and into its own box, so I got a big box for it. And since it was the only box big enough to hold my spoke wheel brush, in it goes...

And I have separate Excel MF applicators for glass, so that I don't even unintentionally wipe some bug/tar remover or something onto someone's glass and cause a bunch of streaks. I am very thorough on glass; I want it to look perfect and absolutely streak-free.

I ordered a Pinnacle Polishin Pal and some extra 4" pads for it, so I needed a spot for those too:

And last but not least, my Frequently Used Products and Accessories... :D

So my towering collection looks like this now:

Under the table is the rotary box, and a few spray bottles.

Denzil are you keeping up with this?

nice. i take it you don't use Meg's #16 too much? ;) and did you find a box for your PC, or is it still in its original box? (i store my PC in the original box as i have to find something to store it in)

looks nice and all, but....

I usually find the tubs are a PITA for me. I like to have all my product easy to reach and see. the only thing i keep in a tub is my PC pads so they dont get messed up.

Actually I use all my stuff pretty regularly. You know how it is...whatever you want at the time is always on the bottom of the stack. :p

The PC is in the bottom left box, just to the left of the Meg's #16. It fits perfectly in there with the extra backing plate, handle, wrench, etc...

Jeeper - I don't have any wall space in my basement to work with, so something like your setup isn't feasible right now. I'm moving out in August (transferring colleges) so I'll make all the room I need for a very organized and accessible collection. I plan to have many more stacks so that they don't have to be so high. And the box that holds all my products will not have anything on top of it, to make it very easy to see/access everything inside.

That's a towering collection indeed! I try to keep mine simple by stacking 3 large RubberNecks, the least used stuff at the bottom, the polishing and sealing tools in the center box, and all of my interior, washing, trim and etc. detailing supplies in the top, including my most used items. I also have a two-bin-storage system next to it with the top holding all of my microfiber towels, the bottom holding cotton and things I rarely use or have retired (but don't want to throw away). This system gives me the ease of getting to what I need quickly, but still retains the functionality of having everything securely stored and ready to go all at once when I have a mobile detailing job.
