Spent my whole weekend fully detailing my new (2 months) Mercedes for the first time. I spent TONS of time on this forum doing research. Santa helped a lot by bringing all the tools. So, here it is... My first REAL detail job and first time using the PC. What do you think?

I almost completely forgot. Dawn washed first. I used Mother's Clay, 3M SMR for Dark with the PC, Platinum cleaner with the PC, Platinum UPP with the PC, and plenty of PakShak MF's. A2Z and Meg's Endurance on the wheels/tires. Touched everything up with QD. Took me forever to do, my back hurts like you wouldn't believe- I'm only 24, it shouldn't hurt like this!- but it was all worth it! Weather was sunny and around 60 today so all the hard work paid off when I got to show it off!

looks great!

PS. I am 24 also, Detailing is hard work, no shame in your back hurting. Now you know Scottswax does it all by hand:eek: Think how big his arms are by now ;)

again, nice ride!

Two questions. Did you really need to use the SMR as it is only a couple months old? What made you decide on the MB? Most people your age that I know would see MB as more of an "old man" car, although this attitude DOES seem to be changing with the newer MB models (especially SLK), and go with a Bimmer. At least I can still picture someone in their twenties driving a MB. I CAN'T picture a twenty something driving a Jag though.

The dealer put some minor swirls in the car before I purchased it. The SMR with a white pad took care of it pretty easily.

As for my decision on the car itself, I really loved the design of the new E. I had a 5 series BMW for about 3 1/2 years before hand and loved it. No question, the best DRIVING car I've owned or driven. The 5 was coming out of warrently, though, and I didn't want to pour post-warrently $$$ into it. I really had wanted the new e60 5 series and was 1st on the list to get one, but production continued to get postponed and the car still isn't out. I drove the new 7, but it was way too big and I wanted the shifter on the floor, not the steering column. I really wanted to buy a 911, but I have to have 4 doors for work as I entertain clients. So, I stopped by the MB dealer when the new E was released and drove it. While it doesn't drive as sporty as the BMW, EVERYTHING else is nicer. The car still handles amazingly well, you just don't feel the handling like you do in a BMW. The sound system is amazing and the car is a blast to drive. I'd get it again in a heartbeat! I think the stigma of the Benz being a car for older generations is being shattered with the new progressive designs and aggressive looks.

Thanks for the comments!

Can I just ask, if you dont mind - what exactly do you do for a living that enables you to afford such cars so young!?

:p  ;)

Your MBZ looks great! I love a well cared for black car.

For extra depth, you might want to try P21S/S100 wax as a topper over a sealant like Platinum. I have done this on my 740iL and I think it really brought out the wetness and depth to the black paint.
