Just kidding! :D This car just totally reminds me of that show. It's an 86' Ferrari 328 GTS. I decided to use some of my new Poorboy's products on it. All in all it came out pretty nice.

The total process was: SSR2.5, SSR1, sealed with AIO and 2 coats of P21S.

Thanks for posting the pictures up for me! (I still don't know how?)

Tell us the truth now, did Higgins help you?

Nice job on what would be a fun car to detail.

Sometimes posting pics Ricks way is good for folks who have 56k modems, something to think about. First thing I noticed was the color and I said nono, can't pull nothing over on a big Magum PI fan. :nono

I detailed a famous persons Ferrari too, George Lucas has/had an old classic silver Ferrari, I think Dino. How come I'm not sure what kind of car you ask? Because it was over twenty years ago, and it lead to me working at his home for about 6 months. I detailed his three cars and did a lot of handy work. I was hoping to run into him in an American Graffitti car show last week in Petaluma to see if he remebered me but he wasn't there when I was there. I did get some pics of other stars that were in American Graffitti but I can't figure out how to get pics of a DV tape, any ideas?

How did you apply the SSR2.5 and SSR1? PC, Rotary? Looks good! I've always wondered about using a machine on Ferrari's. Do you have to do anything different?

Great work. :)

I think Magnum actually drove a red 308, an earlier model if I'm not mistaken...

Throughout its history, the show featured three distinct types of Ferrari 308:

1979 308 GTS

1981 308 GTSi

1984 308 GTS QV

I applied both the SSR2.5 and SSR1 using a rotary polisher with a finishing pad. I didn't want to use anything that would be too harsh on the 18 year old single stage paint so I spot buffed the areas with scratches & blemishes with SSR2.5 and buffed the complete exterior with the SSR1. My pad was pretty red when I was done, so I was glad that I didn't need to use a cutting pad, which would have removed more paint for sure. After polishing I wet a microfiber cloth with water and wiped down the entire car with it to remove any residue & dust from the paint. I then applied the AIO to the exterior including the wheels and let it sit overnight in the garage to cure. For the last step I applied 2 coats of P21S which gave me the look I wanted.

For the most part there isn't anything that you have to do differently on a Ferrari except be very careful and don't use anything too harsh that will damage the paint.

Are those wheel weights on the front wheel?

Yes they are.

That is the first thing I noticed when I went to pick up the car. I couldn't believe that someone would actually put the wheel weights on the outside of the wheel on a Ferrari. :nono

The owner said that he is putting new tires on the car soon and is going to hold out til then to get it done right.

Good info, excelent work. If you don't mind answering, how much did you charge?

I've seen some Ferraris in bad shape, old and new, begging for a good polishing!

On a detail of this caliber I usually charge in the ballpark of $250 which I feel is very fair considering I usually spend between 8-12 hours on each vehicle. At the moment I am looking for a new location for my business so I am doing it out of my garage. I don't have any overhead, just the cost of materials which are minimal so I don't charge as much as I should be. About 80% of my business is repeat customers so I try to take care of them on the price as much as possible.

For this particular customer I did 4 high end details within a week which consisted of an Audi A4, VW Touareg, BMW X5 and the Ferrari, so I only charged him $215 per vehicle.

I really don't understand why we do things like this.

They CAN afford to pay your price yet we give them a break.

It's like GM sending a couple free Vettes to Michael Jordan.

m2c...

I love the GTS QVs. That stands for "Quattrovalvole", right? There's a 1985 one here in town I see on sunny days. Man, I'd love to detail it. It's full of swirls.

Good job, man. You did the prancing horse justice.
