Actually, that is called a 'swamp cooler'. Utah is super dry and lots of houses use that instead of air conditioning. We just bought the house in October and figured we'd wait till summer to put in air conditioning. I'm not much of a swamp cooler kind of guy. Anyway, you have to cover them in the winter since they are basically just big open vents that go straight into your house.

I don't really need a rally car or anything with a big wing. I'll be 30 next year and even though I don't look my age, I should really consider starting to act like it. Maybe I'll start acting like it next year...

I am turning 35 this year and I never owned a real full blown sportscar. I had a Mustang GT and I currently own a Lightning, but I feel the need for something that flirts with the 200 mph barrier and 0-60 in under 4.0. I would really hate to get into my Z06 or Porsche Turbo from a walker !!! ;)

That I don't know that is something that will work on a swamp cooler. Its easy enough to just wrap it. Animals can't get into a swamp cooler anyway. Its surrounded by filters so that you aren't sucking in all kinds of dirt and crap like that. I just wrap it in plastic and then secure that canvas cover over it and then close off the vents underneath. That does the trick for me.
 
After someone recommended this Subie on my thread about used luxury cars I was skeptical until I saw these pictures. That sent me to edmunds for some fact finding and I was blown away. I just got back from driving downtown to see if I could fit in one of these bad boys. The GT Limited like yours would not work (sunroof got me) but the GT without the sunroof was AOK. This is a lot of car for the money. I like the regal blue the best myself. Wagon is tempting with all of the space but the trunk looks just big enough for golf clubs, subs, and amps. Since I have several thousand dollars worth of equipment I think it needs to be in the trunk and not for all to see. Really looking forward to finding out how much you like this ride in the coming months.



I just turned 50 a few months ago myself but I ain't ready to grow up for a few more decades.
 
So far I am loving it. I finally learned how to drive it this week. Its a lot of power right off the bat and it took some time to figure out how to go between gears without being thrown back and forth in my seat. lol The turbo on this thing is great. It has hardly any turbo lag at all.



The only thing that I wish it had is a fold down rear seat. It has a pass through thingy, but that's not quite the same. I can probably count on one hand the number of times that I have needed to fold down my seat, but I have liked having it at times. I'm sure I'll live without it on this car. Everything else is pretty good.



There is a bit of a brake dust issue with the wheels. Especially the inside of the wheels. I dont' know how I'm going to keep those clean. I'm thinking that changing my pads to perhaps a ceramic pad will help a bit. I don't really enjoy when the rest of the car is clean and the wheels are covered in brake dust. Its not nearly as bad as some German cars I can think of. Its not a fraction of how bad the 350Z is either. Its just more dust than my Acura had or my Honda has and will take some getting used to.

Help the uninitiated out....what the heck is a trunk monkey?? :confused:
 
Yeah the dust is terrible on subarus, almost as bad as bmw. You will find it is a hard change going from honda/acura to another car, because honda pads produce such little dust. If you don't change the pads, then my only suggestion would be some anthracite colored rims :)
 
I have one better Get the PB wheel sealant I had the same problem but it seems to be gone now.

lookin good anthony! i didn't know those were turbo'd, i thought they were an NA STI motor. thats cool that they are. i should be back in Orem i think its March 14th through the 21st and we are def going to have to meet up and go for a ride in that thing! congrats!

Hey, that looks pretty good for 70 miles. Did you do the inside of the rim too? How does it hold up to the temperatures and road crap? taking the wheels off every week to clean them would be a pain. Anything I can do to keep the inside of the wheels clean will be helpful. I'm taking the wheels off soon to paint the calipers anyway, so it would be a good time to do it.
 
I don't know much about the transmission, but it puts out 250 HP bone stock. A little tweaking with the ECU will put it near 300 without much effort.

I'm sure you are, Anthony! Probably as much fun as I had after swapping a 455 into a 1977 Olds Cutlass Supreme Brougham!



You bump it up to 300 hp though, and you are going to give a lot of F-bodies a run for their money.
 
Same motor as the STi but with a smaller turbo. I don't really need a rally car or anything with a big wing. Some good old fashioned COBB tuning is top of the list after this first round of 'Scooby Snacks'. HIDs, tint, and a car cover are top priorities. COBB accessport is next on the list.

I was jonesing for more power and was seriously considering trading my Audi for a Legacy GT Wagon or Outback last year. I decided to upgrade the turbo/injectors/software instead but now you're making me rethink my decision! :cool:



COBB software tuning will turn that car into a beast!:up Don't worry about acting your age, I've been telling myself to act 30 for 11 years. And I think I'm not 100% autopian yet, I found myself staring at the pic of the engine bay longest. :o
