I caused slight micro scratches on Tesla headlights with Griots plastic polish, how can I remove them?

Hi guy`s,

I was attempting to polish the headlights on my Tesla only because there were a couple minor marks on them probably from delivery or manufacturing maybe. I tried some Griots plastic polish, then Maguiars plastic polish using a clean blue Griots edgeless MF. Unfortunately this process caused some very fine micro scratches.

Is there a less aggressive polish and a safer applicator to use to lessen the micro scratches. By the way, I can only see the micro scratches when the headlights are on.

Thanks for all the great help here.

I would leave them alone if you can only see it when the lights are on.

When the headlights are manufactured there is a protective UV layer baked on the plastic. When that UV layer starts to degrade you get the yellowing and hazy appearance you see on some older cars. Once that starts to happen it`s all down hill and you`ll be forever polishing the lenses to keep them clear. Polishing them now will only reduce the amount of that protective barrier and shorten the amount of time you have until you start to see issues.
