I am such a noob, please help!

I recieved the Sonus SFX polisher kit and some Klasse AIO for Christmas.



I've wanted a pc 7424 for a long time, finally got it!!



I was eager to try it out on my 95 pathfinder, which it's paint is very good for it's age.



I used:

sfx-1 pad with 3m swirl remover (pc on 1)

sfx-2 pad with sonus sfx-2 enhance (pc on 1)

sfx-3 pad with Klasse AIO (pc on 2)



and while yes, I did see results it wasn't as much as I was expecting compared to what I see in the Click and Brag section and Xtreme details.....



Do I just not have the right stuff to get deep swirls and water spots out?



Please help a noob... thanks.
 
Those products are *very* mild and you *must* kick the speed up to around 5 or so. Honestly, on 1, it's hardly doing anything.



We can't see the paint, but IMO if you are dealing with heavy swirls and scratches and plan on tackling them via PC, better look into some Poorboy's SSR2.5 or Meguiars #83 dual action cleaner polish.



Hang in there, we were all noobs at one time--heck I am still a bit of one myself. :)
 
Thanks man, I was just really hesitant to kick up the speed, I was just going nice and slow :P



The paint isn't all that bad, but I do need to invest in something more aggressive. Thanks again.
 
Oh wow, I just went out and tried it again, same processes just on speed 5..



The difference is amazing for such mild products... sweeet
 
One thing you can do which I did, is use the SFX-2 with the SFX-1 pad. Gave it a little more bite and I got some better results.

Don't be afraid to even kick it up to 6. You can't burn the paint with a PC because of the random orbit feature.
 
Speed 1 is a waste of time. The abrasives will take FOREVER to break down on such a low speed. The difference between most of the Click and Brag and Xtreme Detail threads, is that you're using rather mild products, and you're using speed 1 and 2.



I usually spread the product on the panel on speed 2, and then work it in on 5 or 6. I rarely use anything but 6 for polishing.

I've been detailing cars since spring out of my home, did a decent job for all by hand in my opinion, of course I couldn't even begin to remove scratches and swirls. But this PC is going to be awesome for me come spring time, I already have a good number of people anxious for me to do their car...

This is just the beginning... You just wait until you start letting the "nice car" comments get to your head. You'll start to spend more and more hours on the car, cringing at the sighting of new defects. This is just the start of the addiction.



Like maxy, my PC is on 6 for any polishing who's intent is to remove defects.
