I am giving up on Meg's Tech Wash

badfish

I detail therefore I am
Before I washed my car yesterday I washed my wifes jeep and when I was done drying it I noticed a very, very nasty residue on the hood of her car. The only thing I can think of is it just didnt rinse away totally (not from a lack of me rinising, thats for sure). I have seen this before on my Murano as well.

Because of the way my driveway is layed out I pretty much have direct sunlight on it for most of the day. It literally is a race to get the car in the garage to dry otherwise I always, always end up with nasty water spots and streaks.

Is this something I just have to learn to deal with or is there a better wash out there that doesnt spot quite as much? I was thinking about poorboy's Super Slick n' Suds.

Thanks!

I use the PB SS-n-S and its really about the best that I have tried...you maybe be not getting enough (suds) for lack of terms on your cars....also when I clean a car in your lighting conditions...I start on the shade side if there is one....and Always work the side of the car first then the top...I tend to work the areas that get the least direct sun first and then every time I rinse wet those panels down to keep wet

Exactly what I have to do. I wash the top of the car first, then I do the shade side, then work around to the side the gets the sun, trying to keep everything wet as I go.

When the wife gets home from her business trip today I will take some pics so you guys can see what I am talking about.

While I can't help you with what product to use, I do have an idea or two
.
1. Most people tend to use more soap than is needed. That tends to leave more residue. Use no more than the recommended amount. I actually use a little less than what the manufacturer suggests.

2. You probably already rinse immediately after washing a section, but it is important to be sure to not let areas be dried by the sun. Like Beemer says, keep the areas wet until you can dry them with your MF towel.
If you have a garage, keep everything wet until you are ready to dry it, then drive the vehicle in the garage to dry.

3. Try to find a time when you have some shade to do your washing. I have to do mine at 6:00 AM or else wait until 7:00 PM to have shade in my driveway.

4. Maybe a canopy would be a good investment.

5. Wash and rinse off the heavy grunge with your bucket wash, then drive to a shady spot and finish up with Poorboy's Spray & Wipe.

Hey, none of it may help, but it would keep you busy for a while trying all the options.

Listen to Charles -that's good advise.

I noticed varying degrees of film left behind from OTC car washes (most, not all), and decided to seek out alternatives.

My top choices (as of now -LOL) would be:

-Poorboys SS&S $14.95/QT $39.95/Gal
-TOL Bubble Bath $8.95/QT $15.95/Gal $29.00/2 Gal
- Chemical Guys Extreme Body Wash $14.65/Gal

Poorboys is more expensive, but it's the cream of the crop.

I think it may actually come down to this. *sigh*
