I am getting really hooked on IW845

Rolla- I saw your post on the other 845 thread too, and I'm glad it worked out so well for you. Even though I'm touting FK1000P these days, the 845 is certainly great stuff.



Fallguy- Heh heh, a) you're nuts :D and b) that'll be an interesting comparison, I'll sure be looking forward to hearing how it goes.
 
I've tried to get into 845 but just can't. Beads great, but durability isn't any better than other products I use and the look (like S100/P21S) is too bright for me, especially on darker vehicles. Based on what others have said, I'd probably like 915 a lot more.
 
I've tried to like 845 after all of the praise it gets, but it just doesn't work for me. It won't come off without streaking. I've tried very thin applications and all different drying times, it just doesn't come off and gets "pushed around" basically. I've read about misting cold water when removing, but I see no reason to do that when there are products that don't require it (see below).



I just tried BFWD yesterday and the difference in ease of use is amazing. When applied thin, it just disappears when you gently wipe it with a MF towel. It also looked unbelievable on my wife's black Jetta which hadn't even been clayed or polished. I'm glad I stopped putting off trying it (due to the cost) and finally bought some.

I can see that. I get wildly varying levels of durability out of 845. Sometimes it lasts for ages, other times it doesn't :nixweiss Gotta say it works *incredibly* well on the beater-Audi.



Heh heh, but then, as I recall, you get oddly long-lasting durability out of Souveran so our mileages sure do vary on this stuff :D

I can see that. For some reason I *like* how it looks on that Audi (fairly dark pearl blue), and that actually surprises me! Guess it's like M16, something else I like on some vehicles but not others.

Based on what others have said, I'd probably like 915 a lot more.

The protection lasts, the look doesn't. By 4-6 weeks the shimmer is gone. Still beads nicely though.

Same with Migliore waxes. Not a fan (at least of the two I've tried, Fine and Frutta) on darker colors but on silver and pearls they look amazing.

I have noticed a difference in just what Scottwax said , the shimmer is fading on the 845 side compared to the 1000p side . Both beading even with harsh detergents and would have to give that edge to the 845 , but what good is the beading if the shine is starting to fade off a little . The 1000p still has that deep thick look to it .

Great point!



Hence, after 845 has cured, I apply 915 on top of it, and that "845shimmer" lasts much longer. It looks great on silvers, although I hv to try out Scott's suggestion regarding Migliore on silver.
 
I did a few rinse downs and the 845 is still beading better and that little bit of shimmer has held fine. All in all sure not much of a difference ( wife cannot see it , neither can a friend) thats how close it is for me to warrant using 1000P and how much more difficult it is to use. I simple QD and it's impossible to tell .



I did another side door experiment at the same time I did this one and one door has the 845 and one has a DG 501/105 combo on it . The DG one is clearer and a little deeper , shine is the same , reflection better with DG . This one is easier to tell there are 2 different products on the doors , but slightly .
 
Fallguy- FWIW, I find that the real benefits from FK1000P (as with most sealants) come from layering it. 845 seems to benefit from it too, but not to as great an extent.



It's like one coat of FK1000P sometimes doesn't last long enough for the "incredible, long-term dirt releasing" that I value so much, but two or more change the whole thing dramatically.



With 845, the subsequent layers do help it last longer, but after a while I quit being so impressed, the opposite of how I feel about the FK1000P over time.



But yeah..that trade-offf :think: I'm redoing the 845'ed Audi a lot more than the FK1000P'ed Tahoe, but it is a bit easier to do.
 
Yes I agree with you . When ya get those multi layers on of 1000p it's amazing how deep and thick a sealant can look. I wish there was a liquid version to apply by a via PC .



As we speak I am doing a DG polish on my personal vehicle and then going to layer 1000p or try layering DG 111.
 
Fallguy, thanks for the update. I've got a lot of time invested with both 1000p and the #845. I don't recall ever doing more than one coat of #845...maybe I missed an opportunity. However, I'll always give the nod to the 1000p in terms of appearance. I think the clarity is that much better.

I never did either (assumptions about solvent action for one reason) until somebody here adamantly insisted it made a huge diff; I tried it on some wheels and sure enough, night-and-day difference.
