I am getting really hooked on IW845

I just love the ease of use and the shine , the durability of it is excellent and seem to keep the vehicle cleaner and easier to clean and qd.
 
Yeah, it has that nice wow factor as in it is super easy to use, looks good, is CHEAP, and lasts forever! I haven't used 476 (I think that is the number) but I think it is even supposed to be better!

476 is great but 845 is easier to operate since it is a liquid. I like them both but 845 more because of ease of use.
 
I'm a big Meguiar's fan, but basically the only LSP I use is 845. Relatively cheap, easy to use, durable, and honestly, I think it has a nice look, at least on my Platinum Metallic VW. I really like to hit it with some UQW the next day.



I also use it on my boat and waverunner. Great product.

I do like the 476S too, usually using it in a "collinite sandwich" of 845/476S/845, then I just refresh the 845 as soon as something starts to change.
 
I love the 845 Insulator wax for sure, but that accumulator sandwich is nice. Go figure them old farts really know the best sandwich in town. LOL the wisdom of some old men. Amazing huh! :becky:

I took your advice and did the sandwich except I have 2 coats of 845 followed by 2 coats of 476S and now 2 coats of 845 . Although I think the 476S is a little more durable I liked the look of the 845 better. I think there is enough protection on my DD for now and many moons to come .

Yes it does .



on and off so easy , yet one of the most durable products out there .



Seems to play well with QD's too. I use FK 425 and/or 146 .

Fall, when you're ready to kick it up a notch or two, grab yourself a can of the FK 1000p! And fasten your seatbelt!

Which of the two is better for a winter LSP? I've heard that 1000P is very good in the summer months due to it's high heat properties, but what about the winter months? I heard the 845 being reffered to as a "winter wax
 
The FK1000p gives up nothing to 845 and the other Collinite products. It's quite brilliant during the winter and summer. I guess the only downside I would acknowledge is that it is a bit more intensive in terms of effort and you really need two layers to for that ultimate protection. You really need that 2nd coat.

Note that I've had some issues when I used FK425 on 476S. Can't recall it happening with 845, but I thought I'd mention it (again).

I used to use Collinite (845, 476S, each alone, both sandwiched, you name it, I tried it :D) on the dog-haulers, and also on some other winter vehicles. I still use it on the beater-Audi.



That said, IME FK1000P is simply a superior product when it comes to protection and durability. Summer, winter, period.



But Collinite is still my choice for some applications, and I can certainly understand somebody liking either 476S or 845 better than the FK1000P. But not because the Collinite is "tougher" or "lasts longer" or "cleans up better".



As Tom P said, FK1000P is best with two or more coats (but wait a long time between 'em or you might have issues). But I was surprised how well just one coat of it was holding up in the dead of winter (but yeah, I added another one).



If I can only apply one coat of something, I might still reach for the 476S...especially if the finish was less-than-perfect. Though the FK1000P is OK on the beater-Tahoe, and that thing's *FAR* from "Autopian"...nothing will fix it properly except a paint gun ;) If I want something really quick, and want to do the trim quickly too, then 845 might be the choice.
 
I use both 1000p and 476S last winter and although the shine was better with the 1000p the beading and water shedding and durability did not seem to be there. I have nothing against 1000p , I've been using it for years and I've always said it's like adding a coat of clear coat to your paint and doing 2 coats is a must with it. Apply it very thin ..... apply it very thin !!!!!! It also does stain trim on certain vehicles so thread lightly . Like the above said it's great all year around its a hard to beat product.



I will prob stick to the 845 for ease of use and protection and I like the look of it on my DD .
 
Agreed, you can't go wrong with the #845 and it's certainly a winning product, easier to use compared to the Fk, too.

Good example of how YMMV always applies.
 
So this inspired a test ( just for me since it has been a while since I brought put the 1000P :)



Took my hood on my new 4Runner and masked it off in half after an overall polishing and wipe down. I have 2 coats of 845 on half and 2 coats of 1000P on the the other half . I will have to see what it looks like after it all cures up . I can see the difference already though. I guess you guys are gonna make me eat crow .....lol.

Fall, what have you used as your base prior to applying these sealants to the hood of the Toyota?
