Hunting kompressornsc

Sorry - the board doesn't have a way to contact other members (or at least not for noobs like me).

I saw another post where kompressornsc had mentioned that his Mom had bought a new Chrysler 300. My mom just bought the same car.

Given he seems to be a guru here, I thought maybe he might have some inside tips on how I can help her keep the car looking brand new.

I own a Jeep Wrangler, which is all steel other than the flares, so I'm not sure how to handle the plastic, etc. - plus it's a Wrangler, so I only wax it once a year.

I helped her choose the car and get a good deal, so I'd like to help her keep it looking the best I can. So I'm guessing kompressornsc will know all the tricks - a detailing guru with access to the same car.

If I put wax on the wrong part and end up leaving smears or residue or whatever that white junk is, she'll be none too pleased :)

Thanks for any help.

[Oh, I posted here cuz this is where he last posted - sorry if I broke any rules]

You can send what's called a Private Message (or PM) by clicking on the username and selecting "send private message" or you can go to your User CP (control panel) and go to the menu on the left side for "send new message". But for the most part, detailing is detailing, and there's nothing hugely specific to that vehicle that plenty of other members or generic threads/questions can't handle (no offense to kompressornsc).

Hi, thank you very much. I clicked on the username and visited his profile, where it read that no contact information was available. I'll try the route you suggested.

I know nothing about detailing, so I apologize for what would be a silly request. I had thought that it mattered whether an outer body panel was plastic or steel, as to how you might go about protecting it. So I thought it was great luck to find a detailing fanatic who had the same vehicle :)

Thanks for your patience and for taking time to reply.

LOL...'guru'...LOL! If I was in the top 10,000 detailers on this site, I'd be thrilled. :)

A car's a car. Doesn't matter a while lot what brand or model in most circumstances. The only thing I've noticed different about 300s is that (a) they have a lot of weep holes and are a pain to dry, and (b) the door sills need some extra protection. Because they're so wide, they tend to get marked up.

On a side note: My mom had a local 'detailer' do her car last week (I haven't had time). His 'full detail' was $30! I was scared as hell to see it. Fortunately, it wasn't horrible-I was thinking buffer trails all over the place. He vacuumed and Armor-All'd the interior, sorta washed it, and slapped some wax on it (didn't remove about 20% of it). There was still tar all over it, obviously didn't see a clay bar, and the windows were streaked worse than when they were just dirty. Soon as I have time, I'll do it right.

Hey, sorry I've been buried with work and unable to respond. I'm fairly familiar with message boards and see now way of contacting your directly?

At any rate, I'm planning on taking the car back to the dealer, as I've noticed a couple of paint defects. And obviously it would be helpful for me to know whether they are defects or something else.

If you have a moment, please email me at [email protected]. I'd really appreciate the opportunity, given you have access to the same vehicle, to "pick your brain" a bit about how to best care for my Mom's new car.

She's 69, and this is the first car she's bought for herself, since my father passed away. I'd like to do my very best to make certain I'm doing my best to follow through and help her take care of it.

If I point out a defect, I know the dealer will most likely try to brush it off or pull a runaround. If I had good information on it, I'd be much better prepared.

Thanks for any help.

Dude, click on the user name to the left of his post, and you will get a drop down menu in which one of the items is "send private message to [user]". You sound like a stalker begging in public for the guy to email you. :D

Ha - you're right, I deleted the post. Finally figured out the PM bit - no clue why it wasn't working before.

I'd tried to delete it right after I posted, but being a noob, it went into the moderation queue. Was taking pain meds for my back, so I was a bit out of it when I posted.
