Humble Oxidized 98 Red Civic Hatch (not 56k freindly)

Had somewhat of a challenging detail today, of a beutiful 98 Civic Hatch, it just needed a lot of help with the paint. Main symptoms being heavy oxidization of the red paint, and some swirl removal, got it done but did not have my porter cable yet so it was a lot of work.



The car had been painted, and the rear half was a single stage paint, and the front being an OEM honda red.



I think I was very satisfied as was the owner with the final result, the paint was brought back to a proper deep red.

In between the detail, the left side has been polished while the right is the oxidized part, no wax at this point

What products did you use? I did a *heavily* oxidized vehicle the other day and couldnt even imagine doing it without a pc. I could even see a reflection before I started..Interested in hearing how you approached this.

As you can see it wasnt too bad of oxidization but here is my process



1. Wash megs wash

2. PB Clay

3. Megs #9 Swirl remover (worked very well with the oxidization)

4. PB Non abrasive polish with carnuba

5. Megs #26 wax

6. Megs tire sealant



I was surprised how well the #9 worked, I thought I would have to work with SSR 2.5 and then 2, but the owner wasnt loking for perfection, and needed it done quick.



The megs #9 was succesful in removing a majority of the swirls, but I already booked another appt with the owner to go over the car with a PC and the PB 2.5 and 2 meathod, when he needs the car detailed again

Is it possible to get a 95% swirl free shine like that by using the meguiars 3 step process or anything else OTC?
