Howard Stern, the FCC, and freedom of speech/ expression....

Well Fuzz go party. This debate can go on forever and it would. We are not going to change each other's minds. It has been fun. Have a great evening. The Whaler is a missionary. He's out of the country.

True freedom of speech could occur if we live by the rule of doing to others as we would have them do to us ... or say to others what we would have them say to us.
Freedom must be tempered by love and respect for our neighbor and so often that does not happen.

I'd love to see Fuzz and the DC Gang on the Stern show!

So what you're saying is the Fuzz and the DC Gang (who does that include, the entire forum?) have a face for radio? ;)

I'll stand even more alone than the Fuzz when I say, I find nothing even remotely entertaining in Stern's presentation. It's not funny, nor cute, and certainly not informative. I will admit to a very limited exposure to his program however, so something might have slipped through, but I seriously doubt it.

Nobody has the right to not be offended.
I can't agree more with the concept of "change the channel" form of censorship. If the audience isn't there, the shows usually go away. The FCC is charged with keeping the public airwaves clean and has done so by levying fines (some excessive IMO) for those who have crossed their lines. And, Stern has chosen to leave for paid radio, he wasn't kicked off the air by the FCC.

kimwallace, watch trying to pull that old Golden Rule thing ;)

On another topic, Rabbi, Rush's short term sports pontificating employment was probably just as likely associated with the fact that he doesn't know a darned thing about sports. Besides he has somehow managed to maintain his employment speaking on another topic he doesn't know anything about in spite of charges related to the llegal procurement of otherwise legal drugs. :-p
