How well does Collonite 845 layer?

I generally use CG Blacklight topped with CG V7, I got a sample of Collonite 845 from a friend of mine. I was wondering how well this stuff layers. My experience is that these super durable wax/sealants (fk100p, AG HD) cause those pseudo holograms when layered. Does 845 do that?

Layers cery well, provided you spread it very thin. Havn't seen it creating pseudo holograms yet, but it might do that if you leave it on for a long time before buffing.

I'm wondering if its layerable at all .. seems like it has a high solvent content per the MSDS .. wouldn't that remove the layer below. As far as super durable ..  I wouldn't class it with FK1000 .. in side by sides 845 didn't do as well as some of the other sealants I have used.

Yea, I wasn't expecting near the 4-6 months of protection I get using fk1000p on my white car, from the 845. It just every time I apply the 1000p to my dark blue car, I get those pseudo holograms everywhere. The only way I don't get them is if I apply the product to a freshly polished surface with no glaze. I like my glazes.

I never really had any issues with 845 layering. Actually I prefer to do two coats, as the second coat lays some much more smoothly and is easier to buff off.

Heh heh....Hi Alfisti!

Yeah, I've used a lot of 845 and yeah it does layer for me.  I always wait a day or so between applications but I have no idea whether that's really necessary and I suspect that it's *not* given the product's original application/purpose.

No issues with pseudo-holograms (that was with FK1000P under certain circumstances) or with QD-sensitivity (that was with 476S).

BUT...appearance diffs between 845 and 476S seem to fade/even out after a wash or three and 476S is far more durable for me (if less trim-friendly).  And FK1000P is *FAR* more durable then either; I switched most of my drivers over from Collinite even when it looked better (to me) because the durability/protection of the FK is the best thing I've tried this side of a coating.

These days I really only use 845 as the base layer under 476S.  I do this because the 845 *is* much more trim-friendly and it's a lighter product less likely to cause issues over a seriously imperfect paintjob (think pits/not-so-micro fissures/etc.) and I only use Collinite on paints in very poor condition.  When I used Collinite on other vehicles, the 845 base layer helped with the issue of product build-up along PPF edges (and remember that I apply *VERY* thin layers...still sometimes had problems but the 845 helped a lot).
