How to revive mirror holder?

Do you guys know what I can do to revive the black part?

It has become dull. It could be wax. I have tried putting tire dressing on it, but it doesn't last. I'm guessing it's vinyl, but I don't know for sure. I have a g35 if it makes the black area easier to identify. Is there a permanent fix?

thanks!

It's trim, so any trim restoring product should be fine. Yours looks like it is slightly faded should clean up really nice with a product like PB trim restore

2 coats of meguiars clear plastic polish(dark blue bottle) medium pressure on cotton applicator, wiped same direction for consistency.

Might have to get a trim cleaner like Gr-40 then use trim restorer. Try AIO first to see if it can do it.

Gr-40 is available at Top of the line.

6 months sounds pretty good! However, can they be a permanent fix?

I don't know of a permanent fix

and the Klasse twins last a lot longer than any dressing or restorer that I have tried

Yeah. You can either dye it black again, or, you can tape it off and repaint it.

DupliColor makes a specialt trim paint that matches black trim. Tape the car off around the black trim pieces and spray away. It will make it look 100x better and it is permanent. DupliColor can be found at almost any local auto store.

I completely revived a '97 Jetta and sprayed everybit of the trim with this stuff and it looked better than new. Matched the trim perfectly.
