I am still figuring out how to remove wax off the black plastic like the front and rear valance on my 07 GTI.

Any idea? :up

Thanks

Wax Blaster $5.50 at TOTL. GR40 (professional grade wax remover) followed by vinegar to nuetralize-also available at TOTL.

You will have to use a little elbow grease. No way around that. Here is a tip. If you detail the trim before you wax it will make it a heck of a lot easier to get off the next time. Just like getting dirt off a freshly waxed car. :secret

I just want to make my '07 GTI look new again. I bought it in august 2006 before I head back to college in Western New York near Buffalo where there's lot of salts and debris. So now I've received lot of chips on my GTI from the salts in New York. Those people put too much salt on the road compare to Penn.

So I've read about Poorboy's Trim Restorer so I'm gonna order it so I need to know what wax eraser product to buy?

I plan to do full detail next month. Zaino Kit.

Thanks, :bigups

Never tried the wax eraser, but the GR40 from TOL is the best I have found at cleaning the trim and ridding it of all stains. Their molding and bumper renew is also extremely cheap and fantastic. I highly recommend both products.

Great tips.

This should help me clean up the trim on my DD. The previous owner thought the wax was for everything. Sadly I'm going to have to sand, paint, and clear coat the metal trim.

I had surprisingly good luck using TW ICE for removing wax residue from trim. I also used it on the tires for a while Good thing I found a couple of non-paint uses for it because the durability was very poor but I didn't want to throw away an almost full bottle of product.

I found either Mother's Back To Black or Meguiar's Gold Class Trim Detailer worked wonderfully at getting wax off of trim plastic.

It never fails that, when I'm applying wax or polish that I get a little bit on the base of the antenna on my Mustang GT. I usually just come back with the Trim Detailer and put it onto a terry cloth towel/rag, then wipe down the trim plastic. Any wax that I had seems to just dissipate almost immediately. I know it doesn't cover it up, because the trim pieces I have on my car have that light pebble texture to it, and it would be immediately visible.

Now, I'm not saying this is the perfect end all be all way to do it, but it's worked for me in the past, and didn't take much effort to get the wax off. :)

Here is a question. If a vehicle's original color let's say gold which is very distinguishable got faded. Then, I cleaned the rust and painted but the new fresh paint is quite visible because of the fade of the old one. What suggestion someone can give me about this new painted on the vehicle.
