How to Remove the dash for smoothing & painting.

I have an 02 Silverado. I've seen many in mags that have smoothed and painted the dash. The smoothing and painting part presents no problem but removing the dash worries me. I'm afraid of opening a real big can o' worms if I start taking the dash apart.



Any of you have any experience in removing the plastic cover that is the dash. I have taken off the bezel that goes around the guages and controls and I can see that there are some bolts that hold the dash cover on and I'm thinking that there are probably a few more of these and then perhaps up against the firewall some clips and studs that the dash slides over.



Any help out there?



I bought a set of Service Manual Disks, 6 in the set, that are supposed to cover everything on the truck but I don't have them yet and don't know how good they will be. Any experience with these?
