How to Remove Burn Marks from Spent Fireworks

I have a slight problem on my hands with my 2005 black TSX. My neighbors recently shot off fireworks near my car, and damaged what appears to be the clear coat of my car. So, I took my TSX to a highly rated body shop in town, and they recommended that I get a wet sand. But they would not promise the burn marks from the fireworks would be removed.

And my question is, will a wet sand damage my TSX's paint in the future seeing how a wet sand removes a layer of the clear coat because I do not want to cause even more damage. And if a wet sand is not a wise decision, what should I do to remove the series of burn marks (which appear to be only on the surface)?

I would greatly appreciate any knowledge or advice on this issue because I only know what the body shop has told me at this point.

Thanks,

LaKeisha

Actually, I wish it was that easy. My neighbors are refusing to fix my paint job. Oh yeah, I will try to take some pictures, and post them in the next few days.

i got a new ding on my trunk courtesy of my neighbor's teenage kids & their fireworks, they also refused to pay for the damage. Each of the 2 kid's cars got a custom paint job courtesy of ME! 2 gallon cans of enamel paint over the hood and top of their cars. one good turn deserves another and I dont turn the other cheek for anyone :2thumbs:

Thanks to all for the advice. As far as court goes, it seems like the right thing to do, but I certainly do not have the time or the money. Seeing how I'm in grad school. Plus these people live next door to me, across the street from me, down the street from me, there is no escaping them. Five of the eight house on the cud-de-sac where I live are involved. So it's a really sticky situation.

So, I'm trying to take the easiest(cheapest) route get my car fixed without causing too much trouble. And I have spoken with my insurance company, and I have a $500 deductible. Considering a wet sand would only cost me $300, which defeats the idea of going after them through my insurance.

wow i didnt know a wet sand costed 300 bucks....i usually wet sand scratches out my customers cars on full details if needed..and thats less than 200

Boy that's rich. Five groups of neighbours are irresponsible enough to light fireworks off in the area near cars and don't have the cojones to pay for your damage that they caused? They should bloody well pool their money, pay up and apologize profusely. I know if they didn't do something I'd be making sure I got my moneys worth out of them somehow. I very much believe in Karma and what goes around comes around. Maybe it says sad things about our society but these mofos need to learn how to be stand up human beings.

I am sorry that this happened to your new car, let's hope it gets resolved to your satisfaction.

Thanks for the sympathy, I completely agree with you fully. And I hope Karma will take care of it, because they have made up their minds to do nothing. I just cannot take five of my neighbors to court.

LaKeisha, You're quite welcome and I know you have the support of the members here. I am curious as to what were these people thinking when they lit fireworks near your car? Do they have so few morals that they don't feel any remorse or responsibility over what they did?

Let us know how the car turns out.

Holy crap! That's a little extreme, isn't it? Crossing the line into misdemeanor mischief. I hope no one saw you doing it. And how did fireworks ding your trunk? I can understand a burn, but a ding?
