How to remove black grease from car rug?

How can I remove black grease from a car rug?

My boss stepped in some grease in a parking lot (his left foot) and was in his car smearing it on the left wheel well where your foot rests. It is smeared in there.

If you guys can help me that'd be great, thanks in advance.

I had success blotting it off with "Goo Gone" purchased at Home Depot. I think no matter what you use you must be patient and blot rather than rub it in. Good Luck!

Prestone makes a great carpet cleaning foam. Don't get any other foam except Prestone. It has gotten out every stain I've tried it on. My brother and I run demolition derbys in the summertime and we step in our share of grease while we are working on the cars. Prestone has always been able to get out the things we track into my car and his truck. Target has it and I am pretty sure Kmart does too. Turtle Wax makes one in a red can too. Don't get it. It sucks. Go for the Prestone in the red can with the brush on the top.

Work out the big stuff with paper towels or whatever. You don't want to use a cleaner which will dissolve it (on your carpet). I would first try dawn and then work my way up to Lestoil. You have to be careful with Lestoil on bright colors though. "Spot Shot" carpet cleaner is very good.

Joe...exact details as follows.

1) With an old clean t-shirt I picked the largest portion of the grease out with my fingers, this got a lot of it out, but also smeared the grease in that was remaining

2) Used eimann Fabrik High Intensity sprayed on, blotted/rubbed with the same t-shirt to get a good majority of it out

2) Sprayed on more EFHI and used a scrub brush, this really did the trick, think of it like shampooing your carpet at home. The best Shampooers use an aggressive scrubbing technique to lift the dirt out.

I acutally did this on two seperate occaisions, but the courtesy of my kids.

Good luck

An old Concours trick that I have used for many years is to use Aerosol Brake Parts Cleaner on a clean rag and wipe away the stain. This is especially effective on carpets. The cleaner will not damage the fibers or dye and lifts the stain right out.

I have used this on wool as well as synthetic carpets and cloth.

Gumout brand is the best but others will work. Don't use the foaming variety-it isn't as strong.
