How to get started (56k should be ok)

I recently found the board while trying to learn as much as I can about detailing my car for the upcoming show season. I have been overwhelmed by the info and quality of the members cars here. I have read some good things about the Wolfgang products (durability still being an untested issue) and was concidering purchasing this kit. Is this a good idea or is there something else I should be doing first? My car is black so I understand that it will be serious work to get it to look awesome. Any info or help would be appreciated thanks alot!! Keep up the good work guys!!!:xyxthumbs

Here is some of my work on my car so far

Just after doing some mods still pretty stock

looks good, i am a jetta owner too. Can you tell how you got your tails dark? i tried to get a similar effect with VHT Nightshades and clear coat, but i never got a nice shiney finish that looked good. are those RS6 rims?

edit: i just noticed the OEM HIDs.. they are awesome.. it looks like you really saved your money for the right mods and didnt overkill with little mods. RS6 wheels, OEM hid.. good stuff! :)

Well my tail lights were painted with Uniblack VW paint. 2 coats of paint and clear mixed. I polish them along with the rest of hte car. The wheels in the last pic are Replica RS4 wheels, all the Audi guys want to steal them HEH. They are powdercoated Gun Metal now, sitting in my basement waiting for warm weather to be put back on. I saw your post your car is looking nice! I want to get started here and do some of my families cars to get more practice, my mom has a Black Passat so that will be good practice for me HEH.

Edit: yeah OEM HID's rule. When I get all the stuff that i have for the car on it I will throw up a pic or 2. I need to find some beter places to take pictures besides my driveway :doh

i see you are going for the black out look. i would've left the wheels silver.. but thats me! i am sure the gunmetal will look good too.. are you on vortex? post up some pics with the gunmetal or some more pics of the car in its current state!

heres somewhat of a reply to the question. I think the Wolfgang are the next fad. NXT was the last one, and still going. You could try something that has been tested for longer time, like zaino or klasse. I my self use klasse twins for my black wrx. Yesterday I stripped the NXT coat I had and redo the whole car with AIO and SG. The neigbors came down and I hear them say "holy sh..", they liked my car, they just kept it to themselves:rolleyes:

The kit you present looks good, but there have been reviews of the wolfgang products and from what I read some arent just that good.

I livein Apple Valley. I am on the Tex I'm Strider there as well. I don't have pics of the wheels on a server anywhere yet. But here are some others. The car is far from clean in these pics, stupid winter.

That is orange not Red on the Kamei badge. Black and Orange is the color scheme with very little orange just accent

I was thinking about the Klasse set that is for sale here. I need a set that has the tools in it as well, the pads and stuff that i will need. I will have to order soem good drying towels and washing Mits in the mean time. The reviews of NXT doen't seem to great, Have not seen a poo Wolfgang one but I'm sure there is one somewhere. The Klasse AIO and SG seems to be something that ALOT of poeple around here us. I see it in most every thread. what about a PC how much do I really need one?

well, I still love my klasse. Two days after I detailed and the car is still a lot slicker that when I had done with NXT. Somthing I learned today, not to use QD when its below 32F. Didnt felt that cold and had a bird bomb on the car. QD froze.

I used an orbital buffer last time for AIO. Not really needed, but ive read and seen pics of great results out of a PC with a polishing pad with AIO. I think your paint shouldnt need a PC, unless you really want to polish it even more.

So do ya think that this would be a good thing to get? Seeing as everyone here really seems to like the Klasse AIO it would be a good place to start.

tail lights are Painted Uniblack to match the car.
