How to fix rubbing compound mistake?

Not sure if this is normal or not but I got in a little accident and my door got a nasty scratch that didn't go through the paint. i guess it's more of a stain. like a skid mark cheap rubber shoes make on the floor. so i tried using rubbing compound to get it off and it did but now it's lightly scratched and not shiny like the rest of the car. the color is an electric blue, if it matters. anyone know how to fix this and make it shiny like the rest of the car?

thanks!

You need it buffed out, what I would suggest is go to you local detail shop and ask them if they can buff it out. If it is small, it should cost you much.

jasonrs2- The "problem" in question usually isn't a big deal. Aggressive compounds do serious correction (as when it solved the initial issue) but don't finish down well enough to leave a ready-to-wax finish. You just need additional polishing with something milder. It's like using increasingly fine grits of sandpaper to smooth out a piece of wood.

If you don't have any luck finding a competent pro to fix it, you might try Meguiar's Scratch-X, which is commonly available OTC. It'll almost certainly take several/numerous applications, but it might do the job just fine...won't know until you try.

good idea. i'll give scratchx a try. i'm getting an orbital buffer soon so hopefully i can make my entire car look new again. thanks for the tip!
