How to clean up clear coated, polished alum wheels?

my wheels are clear coated polished aluminum, and unfortunately they have seen better days. they are by no means bad, but they're not "shiny", not smooth, have some pretty hefty water spots, etc etc. what should i attack them with to really clean them up nice? since its clear, can i use the same products as the paint on the truck?

In other words, just try to treat it like your normal paint.

I use the same process on my rims as I do the car...



The only difference is that I use Brake cleaner on the back of the rims to remove salt and road grime from them, then was/wax just like the rest of the car.

Do not forgot to clay at least the front polished/clearcoated surfaces.
