How to charge?

yea, I stopped on in to take a look at the content and such.

Church's I have mixed feelings on to be quite honest, but I definitely think it's a good idea, depending on how you go about it.

Many churches are more open if you have some sort of charitable angle on it. I know what I did (though I really wish I was proficient enough to detail on my own then..) was have the mass announce a charitable car wash (you can do by "pay what you think is fair" which I heard sometimes you get pleasantly surprised--or do what I did and charge for the materials pretty much) and take on some volunteers to sign up

What sucks then is, for that time it's pro bono...BUT(huge but) what I did was the night before, me and my friend (with my detailing bosses instruction at the time) detailed the crap out of a car--pretty much as a show car. and parked it pretty much where all the people would sit and wait/watch their cars the washed and all that--the marketing then comes as follows.

The table setup where your volunteers record and collect money--you put a stack of your business cards/flyers/ a sign if you have one made and if you so choose maybe a coupon. somewhere should say that you're available for appointments, or if you want can just stick with what's listed above since i'm sure your site will be on one of those

The volunteers (I planned it i think 2 or 3 weeks in advance) in the time prior you pretty much do a quick training with w.e. tasks you're willing to entrust them with (I simply showed them how to wash. I was fortunate to have a couple car fanatics in the bunch so I had them help with the QD and wheel trim for those people willing to pay a little extra). So wash, QD spritz and wipe, maybe a vacuum if you have enough(mind you i did it kind of like an assembly line fashion..) with a quick car freshner(obviously ask if they want it...)

and the finish..you conveniently leave your business card in their car--like their center console (I told my boss at the time and he paid me extra for every client that i brought him in return i hung those hanging car fresheners with the business logo/contact on their mirror which also had the business card taped to it--I left the actual freshener part in the package to kind of keep the smell in the packaging in case some of the people didn't want aromatics in their car) that way, if they didn't take it at the register--you were nice enough to supply it for them :)

I guess what helped was before you start you line up the volunteers that are from the parish so everyone knows them--and yanno "before we start I'd like to thank these wonderful volunteers for helping....) Take tons of pictures to post up on your site, also, calculate everything; why you ask? simple--you like tax deductions? tabulate everything and have the church write you up a receipt for your kind donation for your services. Follow up the next week if you can to make the announcement of how much the fundraiser made and another thank you for to the volunteers.

It goes without saying--but in between you can chat it up to the car owners about maybe some of the work you do but try not to oversell (obvious but thought i'd mention anyways)

Any tips I let the volunteers split from the tip jar. Over the course of the next 2 months (i did this in the spring since the cars were dealing with the post NY winter salt mess) we got maybe a dozen clients, maybe a third keepers, by our busy season in the fall, my boss(we were a 4 man operation) ended up having to find more people on crew to help handle the volume of people and I THINK he cut a deal with some other detailers to help out...but I can't prove that one.

the key here neighbor(sorry i didnt get back to you sooner) is to train the CHURCH parishoners (We picked one that had a youth group/english ministry--pretty much teens and young adults becaues they're generally more eager for community service type things.
