How the heck do you polish an edge with a rotary?

No it's clearcoated. Maybe that's not called oxidation? It looks cloudy. So just go over edges at slow RPMs and I should be okay?

Brett, you will be ok. This is not rocket science. Go low rpm and no pressure, and use a white or green pad to start with instead of a harder pad. Once you get better, you can do with a cutting pad.

We all do edges, (I assume :) )

If you burn the paint, at least you aren't burning a classic car that is worth over a million $$$$. :D

Is there any way possible to run the pad along the edge without burning it?

Of course. Burnt paint is the result of too much heat and abrasion, so like everyone has stated use light pressure, slow rpm and make sure the pad is properly primed.

I was taught to polish off the edge..pop the hood...open the door if need be so that the pad is not "running into" the adjoining edge...or you could tape the other edge.
