How soon after SG can I apply P21S wax?

This morning I washed, clayed, AIO, and 1 coat of SG. How long do I have to wait before I apply the wax? (P21S)? We may have rain tomorrow, (no garage) so I don't know if I can wait 24 hours. Suggestions?
 
Most say 24 hours minimum, but in your situation I'd say 12 hours *if* it is very warm and dry. You will only hurt yourself if you don't let it cure long enough.
 
I'm in DC and it's near 90, so it will still be warm tonight. Would it be better to put off the wax until next weekend, and don't put anything over the SG for now? Thanks for the input!
 
Yes, definitely. Actually, I'd do a few more coats of SG before topping it, personally. Again, at least 24 hours apart.



A lot of people have found SG to not start looking like it should until after the third coat.
 
One more question...so if I put off applying another coat of SG and then the wax, what steps do I need to repeat next weekend? I assume I'd wash beforehand, but I don't need to clay and AIO again right?

You probably don't need to re-clay if you had already done that prior to the whole AIO/SG application. Correct on not needing to AIO again. Doing so would remove any of the SG you've already layed down.



I agree w/ Dookie to put several coats of SG on. There is really nothing wrong with waiting ~ one week in between coats and then topping it all w/ the P21S.
 
Cool, thanks for the quick replies! I'll wait a week then re-wash and reapply a coat or two of SG and then P21S. I'm curious to see how much difference the extra coat or two of SG make. Everyone seems to say it does!

That is pretty crappy if you ask me. You should not have to apply a product 3 times before it looks like it is supposed to.

That's a very good question. I asked the same thing shortly after joining the board and the best reply I got was to "just let the carnauba wear off". Trouble is how are you going to tell when just the wax is gone.



I don't think using some sort of degreaser would work either because you might also strip some of the SG if the degreaser is too strong.



If anybody has an answer to this, slogans7 and I are listening...
 
Don't use that many carnaubas, but if it's been a week or two after I applied something like P21S, then dawn seems to get most of it off. Then again, the problem is that I don't really know of all of it is off.

thanks Justin. I was doing a bit of reading on Zaino and lazaino.com says that washing a car with Dawn will remove carnuba wax.

Dawn is good for dishes, but there is no guarantee that it will completely remove carnauba wax.
