How should I handle this situation?

I have been doing details for a little while now, mostly for people I know or friends of friends, but it's about to change. My mom works at a property management place and one of the properties they own (also where they are located) has a large chain of radio stations in it as well as some upper class lofts. My mom is friends with one of the salespeople at the radio station and she said all of the 50 or so sales people are required to keep the cars ($50K+) looking clean at all times. She said the detailing place they get their cars done at now is not mobile and it is kind of a pain for these people to get there cars done. Also this women loves me and accually had kids because of me which doesn't hurt. Not only would I have the sales people, but others that worked at the radio station and lived in the lofts. It would be more then enough to keep me busy.

I will be picking up a generator, water tank, and a few other things to make me completely mobile out of my truck and not rely on anyone else for water and power. The only thing that I'm worried about is about my mom's company. I would most likely be doing all of these details on their property, in their parking garages or outside on their private streets. I was really hoping to not have to take the cars down the street and off their property. I have a meeting set up with one of the boss' next week. What should I offer him to let me do it there? Free washes? Money for each car? I've met this guy several times before and he's cool, but also down to business. I know I'm going to have take care of him and the other bosses somehow.

I would start the meeting by asking what they want from you on a weekly bases...how do they want to car cleaned and to what extent. Find out if you can use their water and juice or is that not available, is there a place for you to work at on their lot....then with this info you can come up with a price based on that...tell the boss that you will get back to him with what you think you can do for them with in the next week. Then take your time and see what looks like the best deal for you and them.

Well I wouldn't be getting paid by him, but from the radio stations and/or the employees there. The radio stations are his customers since they are leasing the property from him. He wouldn't have anything to do with paying me or the individual details I do. I just need his approval.

I'm just worried he won't be cool with me doing it on their company's (where my mom works) property for fear of accidents/lawsuits/taking up space.

BTW I will be doing full details on most of the cars and then maintaining them throughout the year. I have been hesitant to fully get into this, but this is what I was looking for. It will be nice too being that this place is 2 miles from my house and all the cars will be pretty much all in one spot.

I got it all you can do then is ask if you can use the property or rent an area..all they can say is no...then for the radio station cars I would come up with a price list of full detail and in and out wash...I'd bet that you are going to the later of the two more than anything if these are company cars..make sure that your price is worth your time on the washes....you are making there lives easier by going to them so you can get a few extra bucks....also the first time that you do there cars I would push for a full detail then a maintenance type of program after that will make your life a lot easier

Tomorrow...well now later on today I guess, I'm going to find out if they are leased vehicles and exactly who will be paying for the details. I don't really want to be a mobile car wash for them, but am willing to maintain their cars after they get a full detail from me as you said. I will be able to give them/remind them about a full detail again if I keep the relationship. I know if I get in there though, word of mouth will spread around the complex and I will be getting a lot of full details from the people that live in the lofts.

You said they didnt like having to take there cars for a detail so I would check to see what they were paying also. And as Beemer said all you can do is ask and let him make the first offer and take it from there.

Well I found out some good news. They are personal vehicles, so I can use the, "you eventually want to sell this" line. Also the company doesn’t pay. I guess that is a good thing too being that companies seem to be a little cheap. I found out where they were getting their cars done before, so I'm going to run over there and see what they were paying. I probably will charge a little more just because they can go into work and come out with their car looking brand new without any hassle.

All I need now is the approval of the bosses that own the property and I'll be off to empty my checking account on supplies.
