How perfect do you aim to keep a daily driver

I USED to strive for a swirl free DD. Now I accept a certain level of marring as "ok."

I generally polish out my car once a year (spring/summer) and then as others have said, try and be safe with my washes.

Same here. If my car had in infinite amount of CC, I'd polish it every month, though.

Heh heh...those of you with passenger/spouse/etc. issues...well, I dunno what to tell ya :nixweiss I educated Accumulatorette when we first got together and she's done the same with everybody who gets in her car.

My wife sometimes washes her truck and understands/uses the two bucket /GS/wool mitt/WW/leaf blower system we use.

Recently she was watching as she had her oil changed and hollered at the guy as he was pulling his red rag out of his pocket to wipe down her hood "HEY! I only use micro fiber on my truck!"

If you pay 100$ for a wax you need to be ready to pay 8$ for a mit... My neighbor have his same mit since 2 years and still wash his car with it. This is a no sense????

Tris1- Nah, I've *never* covered an alternator and I've never had a problem. I just don't get it really wet. About the only things I've covered are the Opti-sparks on GMs and, more recently, the COPS on Ford V8s. I don't spray a whole lot of water when I do the engine compartments and I'm a little careful where I do spray it.

Citizen Arcane- Sounds like you have a good pupil there :D Heh heh, I wasn't fast enough with a comment like that and had to repolish the hood of the Yukon after the last quick-change :o

Bostonsfavson- Heh heh, I don't even like to *wax* every month! I wouldn't even *wash* that often if I didn't have to...actually I haven't washed the S8 since before Christmas  Yeah, it's kinda dusty...
