How much is too much machine/PC work??

I know this is a depends questions. Thats why im looking for an overall safe answer.

Situation A

I just did my fathers car with SSR2 with a Propel Orange pad and SSR1 with the green with a PC. It hasnt looked this good since he bought it. But i still have some swirls left I would like to remove. I just ordered some SSR2.5 to try. But how much machine work is to much that I run the risk of removing to much of the clear. My father drives a GMC Yukon and im sure it hasnt had any previous machine work.

Situation B

Next car is my Mothers car we are getting rid of, 1997 Jaguar XJ6. Has had the hood repainted and the front lower grill. Car has been abused and not taken care of well. Crazy marring, swirls and scratches. I know its had some minor scratches removed once when the hood was painted. Dont know to what extent the work was done, but from what I can remember a few scratches on the trunk. I want to SSR 2.5 the car and then SSR1 it with a PC. Then do my LSP so we can sell the vehicle. Do you think I could run into any problems?

General Question for Average paint charateristics using an Aggressive cutting pad with a PC. How many passes do you think you could do with SSR2.5 before doing damage? SSR2?? Trying to understand how much clear is acctually being removed and what possibly can be unsafe.

When moving the PC how slow is slow??? Anyone know of a video to show the proper speed??

Thanks Chris

Ive done a ton of searches and I cant seem to find my answers. Can anyone tell me what to search for or a possible link? Thanks Chris

I don't think you are going to run the risk of damaging the paint using a cutting pad and SSR products. They use "diminishing abrasives" which means exactly what it means. The abrasives don't just sit there and keep the same cutting power and never breakdown. That would be like sanding your paint. When I use SSR 2.5 (and I don't often bother wasting my time following up with SSR1, because 2.5 is so friendly) I work a 2x2 area, and move the PC at a pace of about 3 in. per second or thereabouts, perhaps slower if the area is very heavily swirled. I use a yellow Propel pad, which is supposed to be stronger than the orange pad technically, and I have had no problems. I just finished polishing my truck up with this combo, and nothing detrimental to report. There are many threads which show that the PC with almost any combo would take a lot of work to cause real damage to your paint. Someone even posted a video, I can't find it now, of the PC on speed 6 with Meguiar's DACP held on one spot on a fender for like a minute or so with no harm whatsoever. I'm not saying that damge can't be done, but you have to work at it.
