How much for decent paint job??

Hey guys, I just bought a 92 si, RED... My pilot was killing me on gas so i'm using this one for my drive to work..

Bought from original owner, the door was hit on the drivers side, and when he repainted, it's a little more orange than the si red.

How much is a decent paint job?? And since I bought the car for only $2400, is the paint job gonna be more than the $$ I paid for the car??

Tough call. Sorta like asking "how much does a good suit cost"? *I* would say that, as you feared, it would cost more than the car cost and too much to be worth it. Maybe just get the off-color panel reshot by someone who can match it right.

That's a good idea, but I just thought that it would be extremely difficult to "match" 11 year old paint -

It would be a heck of a lot cheaper though.

There are quite few guys that are really good at matching old paint, but..... Your newly matching paint will fade to a different color over time. Then it no longer will match. If it were any color but red, you might get several years out of it. With red, after a couple of years it will start to show a different color. If it were anything but a Honda, I would say that in another few years it would be worn out anyway. Darned Hondas seem to run forever.:p I would still paint the panel and hope it lasts a little longer than I gave it.

I actually had a car (an Old Alfa Spider) where the previous owner had it painted by Maaco. They did a decent job. Not Concours quality, but decent.

If you are willing to do some of the prep work yourself, you can have them paint it, and save some money, and it will probably look better (Because, like detailing, with painting, it's all in the prep).

I say go ahead and check out Maaco. Look at some of the work they've done (I understand quality will vary from location to location). Unless you are willing to spend more than the car is worth, it's one of the few choices you have.
