How many use wax/sealant on windows?

Let me just ask this question.... If you wouldn't use RainX on your paint to clean oxidation, then why would you use AIO on your glass to make it repel water? It just doesn't seem to make much sense to me, but to each their own. I'm a big advocate of using the right tool for the job, but you should also use whatever works too. Sometimes you can in fact drive a nail with a toothbrush if you try hard enough I guess.
 
I'll use a sealant on my windows fairly often, and so far the worst side effect is a slight build-up at the point where the wipers reach the end of their sweep on the left side.

I agree about 'wax' being too greasy for window use.

While I agree with the basic premise of your statement, I would like to throw in a few things.

1. I don't plan to use either on my windshield.

2. I might use my LSP on my side windows and back glass simply because I have it and will be using it at a time when it would be very convenient to apply it to the glass.

3. Is RainX really such a special product or is just a type of sealant packaged and labeled to be for a special use so a much higher price can be charged?

4. I also have used KAIO on my black plastic/rubber trim around the windows of the vans I have owned. Seemed to work pretty good even it it is a paint product rather than a plastic/rubber treatment.

My interest was because of how the dirt doesn't seem to stick to my waxed/sealed paint. Having that same ability to easily wash clean seemed like a nice bonus for very little extra work or cost. :confused:

Because RainX wasn't designed to remove oxidation (or maybe it was and they just don't boast about it :stick ), But AIO and VM are mild cleaners and do repel water, so why not take advantage of the cleanng ability as well as using the protective qualities.

Is that why I keep finding metal shavings in my toothbrush :lol:

Sometimes in fact you can use your forehead to derive nails, lSee Charles avatar.

I would use kaio to clean my windows, i have used clay. but i would never use a wax on my windshield it leaves to much streaking . I also use stoners IG for some reason the wipers seem to grab better and leave a streak free windshield.
 
I usually just toss a coat of whatever I'm using on my windows. The windshield has been getting Diamondite since I bought the kit a while ago. It works pretty well.
 
I have an 01 Jimmy with stickers on the back window, so I can't use the back wiper. They aren't just white, but red and silver too, and a graphic.


Will Sealant or RainX help keep mud from sticking? Hasn't been an issue until winter came and we get sling and slush.
 
I use either AIO or PB Pro Polish... Normally will clean with Invisable Glass, then will polish with PB PP. This combo cleans very well and does a great job repealling water.
 
I really don't give too much thought about "protecting" the side glass. Windshield and rear glass are the equines of a varying hue. :D

I did use AIO on my exterior glass once. I saw absolutely no benefit from this effort and that was the last time. My windshield bead and repels water (wind aided) very effectively. I first attributed the phenomenon to the cleaning/buffing of the glass with MF's. A year of so ago, however, I switched over to huck towels for my glass cleaning, yet the beading/repeling continues unabatedly. My only explanation is that I keep it clean. Just for additional clarification and FWIW, the only non-glass cleaning specific cleaners that I use are PB's S&W and Adam's DS.
 
I use AM BC-2 on my windows. I'm not really going for protection, I have 5% tint all around, the BC-2 adds depth to the tint. Which overall adds to the sleek look.
 
I've tried AIO on my winshield, but the wipers ended up "chattering" when it rained. Since then, I've used nothing on the winshield. I do wax sunroofs, and back windows, but I will often use OCW, FX spray wax, Four Star Spray wax (the one with carnauba) on side windows to keep them clear during rain storms.

Charles, That's a loaded question. Many QD products have a touch of polymer in them. I really like FK#425 and Poorboys S&G on the windows.

Recently I've been using Poorboys PwS (test version) on the exterior glass and it has done a good job during the first few rain/sleet storms. Steve told me to give it a go, so how can you question that! (LOL).

PwS sheets water very well if you're driving over 35MPH. I always ended up getting a film from on my wiper blades from RainX, which eventually would streak the windshield. I haven't had this issue with PwS, but then again, I've only had it on the car/truck for about a month. I'll keep an eye on it.

There's not to much out there that will stop mud from sticking.......Sealants or RainX will help in the pre-rinse cycle though.
 
I use AIO. Does a great job and the glass comes out looking sharp! It won't bead water.

This past weekend I used AIO on all my windows and did not like the results. We've had a fair amount of rain and it did not repeal off the glass as well as when I had PB Pro Polish.
