How many people love their job?

Todd@RUPES

Just a regular guy
How many of you out there enjoy your job? Work for a good company...

While working for Palm Beach Motoring Group, I have faced some unique challenges in my life. In just two years I have gone through a divorce, which means I have no longer have my son full time, lost my brother and found out father has a very limited amount of time left (terminal Stage 4 pancreatic cancer).

Here is the thing, the more than 45 employees that make up Palm Beach Motoring Group are more than coworkers and PBMG is far more than another corporation. The amount of support I have been show while working here has been nothing short of amazing.

I am constantly humbled by the people I work with and this is one of the main reasons I love my job. How many of you are as lucky as I?

Honestly Todd, in my belief that is what makes "small business" work so well in the US. If owners/bosses screw with their help, they will get the same in return, if an employee feels entitled or has some sort of other attitude problem they won't be long for the business.

It's finding a good mix of people that like what they do, work together instead of trying to be a star or worse, look better by making someone look worse.

That and satisfying customers is the recipe for success.

Well let me start off by saying I'm very sorry to hear about your Father definitely a hard thing to do as I have been through something similar years ago.

I know working with a group group of people can make life better and when they become more than a coworker and become a close friend and even some feel like family it makes it easier to go to work.

I have a few guys I work with that have before more like brothers and family than anything else. They have always treated me great and with respected and are always there to help me out no matter what. Im glad to have those guys and coworks and friends

i have to say that even though i dont have a corporate job or anything really prestigious, i am very happy. i am part owner in a small liquor store with a childhood friend. weve been going strong for three years this december.
we split the hours so i only work 30 or so hours a week and that gives me all the extra time to work on my detailing business which is what i enjoy doing more than my previous 9-5 desk job. even in the summer heat.

sorry to hear about your brother and father todd.

im jealous though because you get to live in sunny florida and have pretty much and endless supply of detail products at your disposal

tell your boss pbmg needs to open up a central texas branch.lol

I love my job ....ever since I went full time detailing and as my main source of income....it has it's own level of stress and ups and downs.....but I'm a happier person !!!

Todd, I'm sorry to hear about your brother and dad but it's nice to know your "work" family is there for you at this time in your life.

Sorry to hear about your father Todd.

I have been in the same career for the past 26 years. I have no regrets and would do it all over in a heartbeat. I am not sure what the future holds for me but I am looking to try something new at some point that involves less stress.

Sorry to hear about your Father Todd. And Losing a brother is not fun. Wish you the best with all of this.

I do love my work. But as much as I should lol.

I work for Polaris Industries, maker of Snowmobiles, Off-road Vehicles and Victory motorcycles(sorry for the shameless plug!:lol2:). It is a good company to work for, decent benefits and have worked for the company for over 28 years. I enjoy this part of the country more than I like my job(this time of the year isn't that great:snow:). I have only had a few jobs at this company and currently a forklift driver and have done it most of the time I have been there. As for loving it I can't say that. It is more of a like/hate relationship, like doing it most of the time though. For me it is a job that puts the food on the table and a roof over my head. What is left I try saving for the rainy day fund or hobbies, and now my car, but this site isn't helping my rainy day fund out much with these sales :wall. After spending close to a year in the Twin Cities metro area of Minnesota way back when I was a young man I was glad to move back to this part of the state/country which is the reason I work where I am.

Dean. :bigups

I work for a large college and love working with young adults who are the future of this country. There's nothing more rewarding than graduation day as they set off to start their journey in life and knowing I was a little part of preparing them for that.

I know this...we are in good hands. They don't have the prejudices and stereotypes of people different from them. They truly want to contribute and not be takers or complainers. I'm glad to be part of it.

Detailing is a hobby but my job is about passion and contributing in my own way to know I had something to do with our future.

The company I work for used to be a good small company. I still like it, love it...NO. But the current and third CEO is really running the place into the ground.

Todd,

You have had more than your share of negatives. I do feel for you dealing with those negatives but the upside is who you work for. I don't know of a closer organization that actually cares about their employees. Max, from all I can see, is one hell of a man to work for along with all of your fellow employees. Give your thanks to The Boss above daily, you are indeed fortunate and have earned the privilege to be where you are.

We've all had jobs we just hated but they payed too well to abandon them and put yourself and your family in jeopardy. Don't ever accept that type of job again. Your accomplishments speak for themselves and that's why you are where you are today. You make me proud and I've never even met you. You have my admiration and that's not easy to come by.

Merry Christmas.

Rick

Other than my boss being a slave driver (self-employed) I love my job now. Haven't been able to say that until recently.

I'm in talks with an auto broker for some wholesale work which I said I would never do again. This one seems like it might be a good fit. Building the right clientele is key to happiness in this business and I really like the clients I've been getting lately.

Glad that PBMA is treating you so well. They are a great bunch of people over there.

Thanks. Todd for posting this up..

Also sorry to hear about the divorce, your brother and your Dad's health...
If I had to pick out which of the above is worse, it would have to be the big D which I also went through, going on a couple years...

There will never be anything that can substitute for a FAMILY... Ever.....

I was blessed to survive a couple wars back there, and get into a really awesome, time consuming, on call 24 x 7 work for over 35 years or so and absolutely loved the challenge, and the result from hard, meticulous, getting every detail done, so that hundreds of thousands of people had unlimited access to communicating world-wide..

And working for smaller companies like AirTouch Cellular, at the very beginning was the most incredible experience I have ever had.. Everyone, everyone, including the President, EVP, etc., was involved, there were no barriers, we were all in it together, and from that little company, grew Vodafone/AirTouch > Verizon Wireless... I loved that job !

It was an awesome place to work for until the drunk clowns from Bell Atlantic came in and ruined it for everyone....

Lucky for me, my Detailing career came along for the ride and that was the place I could go to unwind and get back to normal again....

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all !!!!!!

Im sorry to here about your problemes.Somethimes stuff like that is very hard to take.,but it seems that you have the support of your fellow employees and that is a great thing Getting back to ,do I like my job, hell no. I only work part time because of money problems. I supposed to be retired , lots of luck.

Todd, no words are acceptable enough to say I feel you're pain in dealing with family matters, I've walked in those shoes.

I've been a electronic rep for years, it was a direction that I wanted to take my career after spending many years in the Silicon Valley corporate world. Today I work from home, see little travel, love the industry I'm in and don't have to work that hard to make bank, if will.

The best part is I chose the direction it didn't chose me!

:rofl

thats all i am going to say. glad to have one. but crazy long hours. and every holiday is butchered beyond repair.

in retrospect, a local defense co. just laid off 35 workers this week.

Todd...I feel your pain...I hope you can find the strength to persevere...I can tell you that that most folks at my office are from ones I would consider family. I am happy that forums like this one exists where mutual exchanges can place your state mind in a better place...:->)
